Hello Naralle, it's always difficult when someone says they're suffering from anxiety because it involves so many different factors and know how you are feeling, as I had when I was a kid and developed OCD, but also had it later on in life but had to hide it from others for personal reasons.
Are you able to give an idea of the sort of anxiety you are struggling with, this will help us to be able to assist you and realise that it can change on a daily basis.
Hope to hear back from you.
Geoff.

When it gets really bad I talked to my psychologist and get some help from him. I find it helpful to get someone else's ideas on how to tackle my thinking.
Negative thoughts and ruminating about them tend to cause my anxiety.
I was told to plan my days out so that I didn't have chunks of time that I could just sit there having negative thoughts. I have yet to try this but it does sound reasonable to me.
I was also told to write myself a letter as if I was 6 months into the future. This sounds a bit strange but if I look at other times in my life when I was stressed about an upcoming event it generally turned out very well in the end. My task is to go and look at my current situation base it on what has happened in the past and try and find positive outcomes. These positive outcomes based on past experiences are far more likely than the ones that I run through my head at the moment.
I think it's all about trying to challenge the negative thoughts that cause anxiety and putting the likely outcome into real's perspective rather than catastrophising. I know intellectually in my head the outcome is likely to be good but my gut feeling is always telling me the opposite.
As Geoff says everyone's anxiety is different.
It would be good to hear back from you.
Just interacting with people can help sometimes.

Hi narelle,
Im sorry you are feeling this way.
I understand anxiety I had severe anxiety OCD but I’ve now recovered thanks to the help I received from health professionals.
Have you been able to speak to your gp about the way you are feeling?
You could do a mental health plan together this will allow you to see a psychologist a psychologist can help you with strategies for anxiety so you can learn to manage it.
You really can learn to manage it.

What set's my anxiety off is appointments, going to advents, I can't unwind in bed when my anxiety is going when I know their is something going on the next day.
I also have OCD and it's a BIG pain in the butt. When my anxiety flairs up my OCD flairs up.

Hi Naralle,
I have similar triggers for my own anxiety, and the bigger the event or appointment, the greater the anxiety reaction for me. Anticipating commitments/events is really problematic for me, this Christmas period is a prime trigger. My family and friends are generally accepting of my need for flexibility around plans, though it has taken a long time to communicate my needs effectively so that expectations are managed (mine and others).
I'm practicing acceptance of my anxiety and its common triggers. I'm learning to work with the anxiety rather than against it. A huge challenge.
So, we each need to care for ourselves as best we can in the ways that are useful for us as unique, quirky individuals.
