Hi,

Welcome to BB,

Most of us suffer from what your talking about, has your councillor suggested you see a GP or other professionals? I am not getting the whole story from you. Are you on medication? Has anyone diagnosed you?

Hi there

I don't suffer from health anxiety, mine is generalised. Besides seeing a counsellor, what else do you do to manage your anxiety?

Yes I sometimes feel the physical sides of anxiety in terms of heart palpations and sweatiness. I have had a few panic attacks and they are very scary.

I currently have my anxiety in a manageable state, it is has been this way for nearly two years. Currently I am swimming, walking, go to yoga once a week, eating a variety of fresh food and trying to get some Vitamin D each day (especially in the morning as it resets our melatonin levels). I also sometimes practice mindfulness and do my deep breathing exercises. Plus I always have a good book to read to stop my mind racing and being unproductive.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi cakeboss and welcome to the forums.

Like you I sometimes get health anxiety. Especially if my GAD is flaring up. Anxiety also causes unexpected symptoms that can make your health anxiety worse. For me I got throat spasms (don't know the actual name of it) and it made me think I was gonna stop breathing. But it was just my anxiety. There are many unexpected symptoms like excessive thirst, urinary urgency, feeling faint and sometimes shakey. To help combat health anxiety you need to deal with you overall anxiety. For me this involved me talking to my gp and seeing a therapist about it. I also did some meditation to help reduce my racing thoughts before going to bed. I also found reassuring myself helped. I would just say to myself " you are ok, you are safe, you are healthy. This is just anxiety. IT will pass" At first it didn't help but after a while I started believing in it.

Hope some of this was helpful

Yes I do too I've had just about every physical symptom under the sun. I see a gp and mental health worker regularly and am on a very low dose of anti depressants. At the moment I seem to be managing it OK but still have a bad patch here and there. Happy to chat with you about it 🙂

Hi Dory yea i have been diagnoised with panic disorder and panic attacks .I am on medication have been for awhile now.My panic disorder and panic attacks was made worse in the last 6 months due to financial stress.I wont go into it but its sorted out now .It was 6 months of hell taking a insurance company to onbudsman .It was that bad had see pscicitrist who was so good. They said my body will take time to slow down from the major stress.I also find medications tricky to work to .I am on enough medication they said .So i have been working with a counciler stratgies to stop irrational stress which is slowly helping actually .So when i feel anxiety creeping back health anxiety or stress tell myself this is not me this is not real this is anxiety try to manage thoughts and doing walking each day .I must admit the counciling is the most helpful at the moment which is great to talk to someone who can help .Love to hear from others how they cope to

Hi i use to do yoga and im a strong beliver it really helps anxiety i might join up in a local yoga class myself good idea

Hey there cake boss,(awesome name)

The best thing you are doing is noticing how you are feeling, and being open to help.

Has anyone suggested group classes? Not sure if there are classes but something to look into.

I am only now finding new things about me that I was blind to, I figure the more I know the more I can try to control.

I not long started walking with a group,it has been good(honestly cause I am out and looking at nature. I plan to start a meditation group soon.

So cakeboss what's your best cake?

Dory
