Hi I have an extreme fear of throwing up called emetophobia this cause me to have a panic attack here I scream  and cry,  Something that is coming up has been scaring me. I have to go camping and for normal kids, this would be fun but for me, it is filled with trauma. a couple of years back my sister got sick while camping and now I am forever scarred.I know people probably won't see this but if anyone else has emetophobia I would appreciate some advice.

Hey Tils,

I don't have emetophobia but I wanted to reach out to you anyway to let you know that people are reading and listening to you. It sounds like a really terrifying thing to experience, and I'm sorry to hear you are feeling really afraid of your upcoming camping.

Do you have any thoughts on how you can manage your emetophobia while there? Do your friends know and can they support you during the trip, so you can still have an enjoyable time?

Hi Tils,

Wellcome to our forums!

Im sorry you are feeling this way.

I understand that this would feel terrifying for you.

I don’t have emetophobia but I have a lived experience of severe anxiety OCD, my intrusive thoughts terrified me.

Can I ask who you will be going camping with?

We are listening to you.

I am Kind of scared to tell my parents because they would not understand and the only friend that knows I don't see very much

Hey Tils,

I'm sorry to hear you don't feel like your parents would understand, and you don't get to often see your only other friend who knows. It sounds like there are not many people you feel like could support you through this, and I'm a bit worried you may feel quite isolated when you are there.

Have you spoken about this with your parents in the past which is why you feel scared to tell them?
