Can chronic dehydration lead to anxiety?

I know this sounds an odd question, will try to make sense.
So I have chronic dehydration, and everytime I get uncomfortably dry and hot, it leads to mild anxiety attacks, as well as being irritated.
Does anyone else feel their anxiety issues are triggered by dehydration?

Anxiety can be triggered by a variety of different things, including things that are health-related, like dehydration. Health-related anxiety is very normal, or anxiety that follows physical symptoms. If you've noticed a correlation, you can always have a chat to a GP, psychologist, or therapist about your experience, and they can perhaps offer some professional advice on how to reduce your anxiety in these situations.

Hello ScarlettR, absolutely, we all need water to hydrate the body and when this doesn't happen, then many factors start to appear, causing anxiety mostly the way you normally feel it and can produce other types you might not have experienced before.

The brain needs fluids (water) and sugars (carbs) to function optimally.
Loss of these two things (dehydration) could certainly leave the body in a state of anxiety as your brain cannot perform optimally.
It's important to understand that the brain controls the physical aspects of your body, it directs and instructs the body what to do.
Its always best to speak to your GP about these things first.
