Been a long couple of months

Hi again everyone,

I'm having a pretty rough time tonight, but if I'm honest I've been struggling for close to 2 months.

I quick background is ive had anxiety offically for about 10 years or so, I see a psych on and off and am on anti depressants.

I live in regional vic, so lock down isn't helping, plus we are building a house and expecting our second child. Just to put some pressure on!

A fear ive always had is ill lose my job for one reason or another and now with my wife off work and taking on a lot of debt its compounding.

I know most of my triggers and I generally just avoid them and of i am triggered I can bounce back relatively quick. I had a server panic attack close to 2 months ago and am yet to bouncw back. I have small triggers that ruin my day, like today.

My psychologist has suggested I talk to my GP and and psychiatrist to potentially increase my dosage during this stressful time and look into if I have OCD.

Ironically enough the idea of another diagnosis and increasing meds is making me.anxious, but I'm keen to get on top of this for my son, my unborn child, my wife and also myself.

Thanks for reading, I just needed a rant.

Hello Whatsinaname,

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time...

I had ocd and I have now recovered from it.... I think going back to your gp and phyciatrist would be a good idea especially your phyciatrist to have a diagnosis .... medication helps and therapy if it is ocd...

I did group therapy for my ocd it really helped... it taught me how to break free of its cycle... so if it is that there is HOPE that you can recover too... I was given many tools for it...

😊

Hi Petal22,

Thanks for the kind words. Funnily enough when I was told to talk to a psychiatrist about potentially having OCD you thread with the young lady having relationship issues came to mind.

Its always good to hear of someone coming out the other side. I really don't want to keep doing this to my family.

Your not alone... I’m happy to chat with you if you ever need support..... if it is ocd.... I know it can be a rough ride when you are in the grips of it.... I had this condition severely and to come out the other side just feels like freedom.... I was once told when people with OCD learn to master their OCD they fly and this is so true... I’d recommend you do therapy for ocd aswell if it is ocd... you can break free of its cycle once you are taught how...

im glad my threads have been useful... I’m so grateful to our professionals.... I think it would be great for you to see your psychiatrist for a diagnosis at least then you can work on your recovery from there 😊 there is light at the end of the tunnel 😊

I’m sure your family want to see you well and for yourself to feel well aswell 😊

Thank you and I definitely will chat to my GP.

I really can't help but continue to argue with myself until I feel some kind of relief from what every i was panicked/anxious about.

Its a very exhausting existence

That’s great you will have a chat to your gp....

I understand anxiety is very exhausting.... you will get through it.... keep pushing forward 💪 you are not alone 😊

Just a tip.... try not to interact with your thoughts just allow them to be there and they will float away...

have you ever tried meditation? It’s great you could find one on your phone.... use a guided one for watching thoughts.. it takes practice but once you get the hang of it it’s great 😊

I certainly do meditate and find it very useful, finding time and space to do it is another thing.

I've found some peace today by repeating to myself "you're not a bad person" as I get lost in that shame spiral a lot

Hello. I am 12 years old from Australia and have had anxiety in the past. Things still crop up now but I have a good support network of people to talk to. I may not be the best person to give advice but I would suggest talking to people, thinking of the positives and believing that we will eventually come out of this horrible time. I'm sure you know much more about this stuff and strategies but I have one suggestion for you. You may already know him but Jason Stephenson is great for guided meditation and I find he helps. I guess I just want to pass on my wishes and hope you are ok. This will end eventually just hang in there and keep your friends and family close to you.

That’s great you use meditation....

Yes tell yourself positive things about your self every day... I believe in positivity...😊

Try to live in the present moment .... the here and now is all that matters... our pasts don’t define our future.... I believe as humans we are all evolving and learning each day.... we can all train our brains to have a positive mind set... it just takes practice 😊 I believe our brains can be taught anything...

We are all stronger than we think... sometimes we are challenged and I believe from these parts of our lives we grow from them 😊

you will get through this... keep going.. never quit... there will be something great at the end of it 😊
