Anxiety weight loss??

Hi people,

since I think early January I’ve been loosing weight. I’ve done a full blood test and it came back totally fine, just a few vitamins were a little low. My doctor knows I have a history of severe anxiety, a bit of depression and PTSD and said if the bloods were normal he’s really thinking it’s because of my mental health and maybe I’m not eating as much as normal from stress. Even my mum and dad has said you don’t seem like you’re eating much like you have a small meal and that’s it. Like I’m not trying to eat less, I’m thinking it’s just happening like I’m not hungry because I’m worried sort of thing. I do remember also in early January when I think this kind of started I had an encounter with a violent family member who I rarely see and they were being extremely mentally abusive to me at the time and it literally made me very scared. I don’t know, I’m just wanting to get some advice, things have been so hard with my anxiety and it always makes me worried too like what if I have some kind of disease or illness. Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading.

Hi Mina,

anxiety can be so brutal.

I dropped a about 12KGs in the space of 6 weeks because of the stress of being alone whilst my partner was away in europe. Appraintly I didn't cope very well haha. I was stressed and getting deeper into depression which caused me to eat less then I normally would.

Have you thought about talking to a psychologist about your anxiety?

Hi Mina19,

Im sorry you are feeling this way I understand it’s difficult.

I went through severe anxiety OCD when I was in the grips of this disorder I lost a lot of weight …… I had so much going on inside my head that I couldn’t eat properly.

After received professional help I recovered from this condition and my eating came back.

Do you worry that you have a disease or illness? Please tell me more when you are ready.

Im sorry you had a abusive emotional family member.

Have you thought about speaking to your gp about your anxiety and how it affects your life?

You could do a mental health plan together this will enable you to see a psychologist.

Hi,

Thanks for your response, makes me feel a little more calmer. I was seeing a psych and a psychiatrist a while back but yes maybe I should see one again.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I think I also have health anxiety and I’m always checking everything and googling everything. Even my doctors have said if you keep this worry up, you’ll just ruin your happy life. They are very understanding though.

Hi Mina19,

Thats ok😊

I understand, have you thought about seeing a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist for a diagnosis?

I understand how exhausting it can be by checking things constantly and always on google googling symptoms.

I also did the same thing while I was in the grips of OCD……. I’m not a doctor and I can’t diagnose but I think it would be good for you to mention these symptoms to your gp and do a mental health plan together this will enable you to see a clinical psychologist…… mention OCD to them..

Please ensure they are a clinical psychologist a clinical psychologist can diagnose a normal psychologist can’t……

I understand what your doctor has said but if it is OCD we get caught up in it’s vicious cycle and we find it hard to just stop worrying…… we need to be given the correct tools and skills to be able to disengage from its grips.

There is hope for you..

Im here to chat to you
