Anxiety - Bizzare Physical Symtpoms

Hello everyone,

I have suffered from anxiety for many years, over 20 years. I have General Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety and OCD. Yes...what a real mixture!

I have read many anxiety self help and awareness books, counsellors, medication, you name it i have tried it. Some things work, others don't. I always find myself relapsing into a spiral of anxieties.

The one thing that has started to ease my journey is being able yo talk to other sufferes, it doesn't fix it but it takes the edge off, something about feeling not so alone, weird , outcast or unusual.

I had some recent events that really set off some physical symptoms, twitching....yes twitching. As crazy as it is, no matter how much our health anxiety makes us feel we have underlying sinister diseases( and yes sometimes in life it can be a bad disease or symptom) , anxiety i have come to learn is a forceful symptom that activates out stress response.

If anyone has ever read about the stress response, chronic anxiety really does a number on our bodies. Anxiety is not just a bad thought or a panic here and there...it can be debiitating. It puts so much strain on the human mind or body, i think we at times need to not be so harsh on our selves.

We are warriors together, nagivating our journey through anxiety. You are not alone in this, i too know how anxiety can wreak havoc on our lives.

During a panic attack, I sometimes lose my vision and everything becomes blurry. My heart feels like it's about to explode out of my chest, my breathing becomes rapid and I feel like I'm going to pass out. My whole body either feels really light or really heavy (kinda strange) and I start feeling an overwhelming sense of tiredness. I usually get really bad headaches or start feeling extremely nauseous when I'm anxious.

You are right, we aren't alone and we are all fighting through this battle together 🙂

after being abused i couldn't sleep in my bed- i slept on the floor on a blanket or i slept on the couch

i felt horrible panic and fears being in bed. I still do sometimes, 6 months later, but now sleep in it regardless. I did genuinely feel safer and able to sleep on the couch than in the bed. I've heard a few people had this reaction, made me feel less alone. Bed - anxiety.

I have those exact symptoms + more. Many many doctors have tried to convince me it is anxiety (years of extreme health anxiety)

The twitching etc got triggered by another false alarm health scare that was pretty traumatic, been 6 months like this now, kind of learning to live with it.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I'm 32 and sometimes I get so upset thinking thinks like ....am I dying if I suddenly have these fasciculation's??....I've had anxiety since age 5...why now do I get these symptoms??.

Its a rabbit hole of self doubt and worry, It's the hardest health anxiety I have ever dealt with.

😞 Anxiety is so powerful, I hope you feel better soon. Must be very difficult having anxiety attached to sleep arrangements.
