hi cakeboss. I know many forum users can relate to this post, including myself. I used to have terrible anxiety attacks. Some were worse than others. I would feel a deep sense of dread, I would feel faint, I would sometimes start shaking, I sometimes felt like I was going to throw up, and then my heart would start racing and I thought I was going to be stuck feeling that way for ages. I know how horrible it is. But it does get better. With treatment it gets easier

Yes I do fairly often. All I do is if I can find a way of getting alone time. Then just do breathing technics, till it passes. Heaps of practice to get there, it does calm me down and deal with it. IT has taken heaps of determination, to concentrate on it. In the beginning always got distracted, still do occasionally. But a less now, in the beginning I would go into a complete panic. Always thinking the worst. A real mountain over a grain of sand stuff. (mole hill stuff)

Hi cakeboss,

100% I can relate, I have had a few anxiety/panic attacks in my life.. the chest tightening and the heart racing so fast it feels like a race car, the cold and hot sweats, the shaking and feeling very cold... I know the symptoms because I have dealt with them many times. You seem to have so many good things in place to help you and the fact you are seeing a GP and counsellor is great, just really need to keep at it and keep dealing with them when they happen, I feel overtime you become stronger and are able to deal with them a lot better.

My best for you,

Jay

Hi cakeboss

You are most definitely not alone, i suffer with high lv anxiety amongst other things, my atacks can last days and can be so painfull. I find music a great relive, there are some great apps for your phone with relaxing music that you can alter to suite your mood. I find having a hot shower a big help. There is one relaxation method i use the most that involves tightening your limbs from the toes up to your forehead one at a time holding each part for 15 seconds then relaxing and exhale. Works for me at times. Other times i just try and keep myself busy. It really is trail and error and just a case of finding what works for you.
