I need help. If anyone here has suffered from body dysmorphia, please tell me things you did to get better. I can’t even look at myself without crying.

Hello Unhappy V,
While I have not experienced this disorder myself, I can definitely relate to the mental impact of negative body image and low self esteem and confidence.
I encourage you, if you are not already, to speak to a GP about a mental health plan/making an appointment with a psychiatrist. I know how daunting this can be, but they are not there to judge you or how you are feeling. They will be able to help you develop coping strategies and provide ongoing support.

From a quick google search I found some techniques you can try:
-Write in a journal. This can help you better identify negative thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
-Don't become isolated. Try to participate in normal activities and regularly get together with friends and family who can act as healthy supports.
-Take care of yourself. Eat healthy, stay physically active and get sufficient sleep.
-Join a support group. Connect with others facing similar challenges.
-Stay focused on your goals. Recovery is an ongoing process. Stay motivated by keeping your recovery goals in mind.
-Learn relaxation and stress management. Try practicing stress-reduction techniques such as meditation or deep breathing.
-Don't make important decisions when you're feeling despair or distress. You may not be thinking clearly and may regret your decisions later.

I hope this is helpful ❤️ things will get better

Hi there, I’m sorry for taking so long to respond. I didn’t realise I had anyone respond to me! Thank you for doing this research for me. I’ll definitely take it all into account. Means a lot. Good to know that there are some good people out there who are willing to help others 🙂

I am actually booked in to see my GP during next week about me seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist again. I need someone who specialises in what I’m going through.

thank you once again. All the best
