Hi my name is "Leo" and I'm totally new here, I'll make it short, my question is.... why do I feel the way I do for ??

I'm not sure if I'm feeling down because of one thing or a number of things but I do know I'm not happy, when I should be.

Thanks for reading...

Hi Leo, welcome

You sound like you're at a low point.

Sometimes people have triggers that set them off into days of sadness, others are sad all the time which dysthymia will do to you etc.

So, when you can be more specific we can help you more. We need you to supply more info.

Hi Leo and welcome,

Sorry to hear you are feeling down. You have come to the right place for support in a safe environment.

How long have you been feeling down for?Have you spoken to your gp at all?

You mention you should be happy, i think it's great you can see things to be positive about. Do you want to share more of what is going on in your life ie the positives and what you think makes you feel unhappy?

Hello and good evening Leo,

Firstly welcome and thanks for reaching out on Beyond Blue.

In my experience everyone's triggers for 'feeling down' can vary from one person to the next. The positive thing is that you are ' mentally aware' that you are feeling down and not happy, which is a good and bad thing.

Just so we can get a better understanding of you and the reasons why you say 'you should be happy' do you mind If I ask a little bit more about you? What do you? Single, married, divorced, hobbies, any family etc.

Would be great to learn more and some further information so that we can assist further in trying to answer that question of 'why do I feel the way I do?' 🙂

Thanks again Leo and look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi and thanks for the reply,

basically i I suffer from low self esteem, mainly from making bad choices and as time goes by something makes you think about an event that did work out the way you expected it to be. The decisions I made at the time under certain circumstances were what I thought was right for me and I got treated pretty badly by people who had little or nothing to do with my decision. I dwell on the past and feel sad because I dwell on the past and it makes my try and reach out to these / this person and I know it will bite me in the butt but for some reason I feel that I have to explain to them why I made my decisions.

Hi Leo

Thanks for clarifying.

What you highlighted is guilt and worry. These two things are mire swrious than what people give them credit for and IMO often needs psychological care/therapy.

So visit your GP and discuss it.

You can google the following and have a read

Good luck. You have to find ways to control your thinking, not let your thinking control you.
