hi and welcome.

I am guessing from your last line you are a teen? Hope I am correct. Firstly, some random thoughts from me ...

Our teen years (I think) can be quite difficult. Transitioning from a child into an adult and everything that goes on in our body. People around the same age can also say things that are very hurtful and without considering the effect it can have on the other person. On a different level, my daughter was teased regularly because a skin condition.

I don't know if this little trick will help you... I was listening to a podcast and Brene Brown mentioned having a small sheet of paper with the names of those persons whose opinion mattered. If your name was not on that list, then what they said did not matter.

If it helps to talk to someone else you could also chat with the folks at Kids Helpline - https://kidshelpline.com.au. You can also call them if you want to on 1800 55 1800.

Hope you will come back and chat some more.

G'day Everleigh,

People do say things about others appearance, it's one of things that is hyper real in western society. All those magazines presenting perfectly formed faces and tanned and trim fit bodies, just goes on forever in the fashion and fitness industries.

One of the really weird things to me is how many beautiful people think/feel they are ugly, how some people are super critical of others too. No wonder so many youths suffer body image issues.

I think Everleigh is a beautiful name, would you like to spruce up your profile with a picture?

I'm here to chat too, enjoy bb.

Hi Everleigh,

I really feel for the teenagers these days. This is such a sensitive and vulnerable tone in every person’s life and these days the appearance pressure seems to be beyond any measures throwing these unachievable, electronically moderated images. On top of that there’s the media and marketing manipulation of telling us what is right/wrong, cool/douchebag etc And the focus on all of it is on the surface only. So shallow. The core values of appreciating people for who they are and not how they look, seem to drifted off.

Dearest Everleigh,

A plastic surgery sounds pretty serious. Do you think it will make you happier?

Take care there.
