Friday
hi to all here,
I've known about BB for a really long time but thought I'd sign up tonight and see if this sorta thing helps.
I'm a 42 year old guy and I've had depression and PTSD for as long as I can remember. I never thought about joining forums like this but that was when I had a few more closer friends to kick back with.
my psychologist said something like this might help or lead to new friendships. I'm not convinced to be honest but, here I am.
so, hope something can come of this. at this point I'll try anything that may make me feel like there's some reason to keep going.

Hello SoloLeveller,
Thank you so much for your post. We really hope this online community provides you with some additional love, care, and support. Many people here have experienced very similar things to you, so please know that you are not alone. We commend your courage to reach out and try something new.
Depression and PTSD make things like trust and behaviour change really tough, so please be gentle and kind to yourself throughout this process. I have read some of your other comments and can see that you have been through a lot, so let's take things slowly.
It seems like friendships would mean so much to you right now, which makes sense because connection is such a core human need. I am curious, do you have any hobbies or activities you enjoy? It can be helpful to explore friendships when we are doing things we really like - not only because we are connecting to others, but because we are also connecting to ourselves (both of which can help with feelings of depression). Is this something you could work on with your psychologist at all?
I'd also love to suggest Grow. They provide free in-person and online support groups where you can connect with new people: https://grow.org.au/find-a-group/ They might be a great next step for you? You may also find benefit from a Men's Shed Group, where you can connecting with other men and focus on building connection through activity: https://mensshed.org/about-mens-sheds/
These are just some ideas, feel free to let me know your thoughts and what you have/haven't tried. This way, our community will know how to guide you best!
I have faith that things can change for you with a little more support.
Talk soon,
Sophie M.
