Missing Pet Memorial Stone!

NO NO NO!!

Dec 2021 and my dog Caes wondered onto the road and was hit by a car 🤭 His doctor and nurse tried to keep him alive unfortunately they couldn’t do anything and I lost Caesar.

I lost Mia and Caesar in 2021! 🖤
I have cremated my furbabies I have their paw prints nose prints pendants with some ashes inside them and something which is new a MEMORIAL STONE. a beautifully handmade glass swirled bursts of little bubbles with a heavy base anyway with a fuschia colour and most importantly my Caesar’s ashes twirl through it.

THIS part that breaks me, I made a clear spot on the cupboard for Caes the ashes the memorial stone the pendants the photo frames and a candle from the AWL.
I stayed with a friend who is aware of everything happening with me.

I had never stayed away from my habitat for 3 weeks straight before.

I returned home 3 days ago I noticed odd things out of place I turned to look at the dogs photos paw prints and I felt my eyes looking harder and faster back forth up across down WHERE ARE CAESARS ITEMS?
His ashes are swirling in the memorial stone ITs GONE! How Why What do I do….

I asked the person I share house with if he knew anything about my dog Caesar’s memorial glass he said he doesn’t know anything he has no idea. I asked if he had people over whilst I was on my 3 week hiatus he said nobody was at the house he then said something like ‘someone’ going around the back of my property and getting into the house??!! Like a break in!!?? I have no idea what he’s on about. I can’t imagine what type of person would do this to my son Caes?
No one can gain from taking my babies glass swirled ashes but it’s priceless to me! I can’t say the words I want to, I’m beside myself this has thrown me back to Dec 2021.. I can’t move forward, guilt has been paramount in the 20 + years I’m so so sorry 😢.

I DO NOT KNOW OF THIS HURTFUL BEHAVIOUR! Why does this behaviour exist it’s cruel, I am hurting and wanting my boys ashes back!

Dear Miacae,

We are so so sorry to hear that your Caesar's items have gone missing. It is clear how important these pets and their memory are to you, so this must be incredibly difficult. We are so glad that you decided to post here for support, and we hope you find it helpful.

If things become too distressing and overwhelming for you, please remember that there are always crisis support services available such as at Lifeline (13 11 14), Suicide Call Back Service (1300 659 467), or emergency services (000 – Triple zero) if you find yourself to be in immediate danger.

If you would like some help finding mental health support, we would recommend that you get in contact with the Beyond Blue Support Service. They are available 24/7 by phone on 1300 22 4636 or on Webchat 3pm-12am AEST on our website: www.beyondblue.org.au/getsupport  One of our friendly counsellors will be able to talk through these feelings with you and can offer support, advice and referrals.

Again, we are so glad that you decided to post here. It is so difficult losing a pet and we can see how much you have cherished your pets. They would have been lucky to have an owner like yourself. Please continue to do so as you need, and keep us updated. Fingers crossed you end up finding it.

Hi Miacae,

Welcome here and omg i am so sorry to read of your treasures gone. I hope u get them back somehow. I don't know if u could file a report with the police? Also to add to Sophie's phone numbers, i would recommend Griefline 1300 845 745. I lost a much loved pet last year and am still grieving- have called them a few times and they have been okay. They give you 30min slot to talk about your grief and provide listening, support, can offer suggestions, whatever it is u need. I hope u get it back or can find some support at least. Write any time.. there is a thread on grief and loss and ppl often write about their pets.

Dear Miacae ~

A lot of people do not realize the huge part of one's life a pet can be, and when they are no longer with us the huge hole that's left in life.

For somone to take your special mementos and reminders is strange, as you say. If the rest of your possessions are intact, although moved around, then the person must have had a special need , and Caesar's memorial answered that need in some way.

If nothing else is missing I"m not sure the police would do more than record your call, at leat to start with. If it turned out to be a string of similar cases that might be different. So by all means tell them - and check lost property too in case it was discarded.

While it is true there is no substitute for the physical memorial I have as time has gone on found that I'm not just left with the unhappy memories of the passing. I can conjure up memories of happier times and incidents too - even laugh. This is something I found I could actually work on until the pain became less and gladness to have been with them for part of my life has been the main feeling.

I rather think Golden82's suggestion of Griefline (1300 845 745) might be a good one, they too recognize the grief from losing a pet as with any loved one.

Please let us know how you are getting on
