Hi,

My name is Aoifa and I am new to Beyondblue. I chose to get involved because I hope to provide hope and support to those who also have a mental illness.

I have had depression since my early teen years. But, it was exacerbated by the traumatic death of my dad 13 years ago.

I am on anti-depressants and see a psychologist. I also have a wonderful GP who has been a great support.

I hope that in some way I will be able to help others, and in turn help myself continue to get stronger.

Thank you

A warm welcome Aoifa. I hope you enjoy this site.

As you have done so already you can start threads or join in threads. There is a circle of friendship thread you might find comfort in.

Your attitude is commendable

Hi Aoifa,

It is lovely to meet you here 🙂

I am very sorry for the loss of your father. That must have been/be very, very difficult.

You have clearly been through a lot and for a long time too. Like Tony, I admire the attitude and tenacity that comes across in your post. I also think it's wonderful you have a desire to help both yourself and other here.

Kind thoughts,

Pepper

hello Aoifa, welcome to the BB site, and deeply sorry for the loss of your father, and in turn it's great for you to join the site where there are so many compassionate people who have had to go through all the struggles in life suffering from depression, but once we have it then it remains and can come back to haunt us from time to time, but each time we learn something new which can make us stronger.
Your help will be much appreciated so thank you. Geoff.
