hello! I'm a 28yr old woman with anxiety living in Brisbane.

I’ve always been a nervous, introverted, and sensitive person, so I think I have always had anxiety but not realised it.
It was only when work stress brought on chest pains and other symptoms about a year ago that I went to a GP and was told I had generalised anxiety disorder.
At the moment I am struggling with social isolation as well. So I hope to find help with this as well as learning more about anxiety on the BB Forums.
Looking forward to getting to know more people here 🙂

HI Builditup
I also have GAD and I understand the struggles that entails.
I also moved a year and I know it can be difficult making new friends and trying to be social. For me when I moved I tried new things to help get things going. I started going to a new gym. I ended up doing classes and kept bumping into a girl a similar age, we ended up doing workouts together, got eachothers numbers and now close friends. I also started doing tri and cycling and met a friend who enjoyed doing that. There is also an app called hey vina. It is a female friend making app. It helps meet people that are local with similar interest. I have had a friend how used it and made a friend that way. There are also some social fb groups that help you make friends as well but make sure you are cyber safe.
Hope some of this helps. I think it is something a lot of adults struggle with but no one talks about

Hi MsPurple,
I have looked up hey vina and some similar apps and will give those a go.
Also I'm going to work up the courage to join a gym as you suggested, this is a great idea. I don't use Facebook/apps all that much, I do prefer to get out and do things I enjoy and try to meet people that way, so the gym is worth a try.
Thank you for your advice and sharing your experience!
