I guess I know that the sleep deprivation is definitely fuelling the anxiety fire... i was just wondering if anyone else has tips to prepare for sleep...i haven't slept a wink in 2 nights.....i have seen my GP and a Psychiatrist and a Psychologist this week.....I am just struggling

hello Blubaguette, I'm pleased that finally you have posted your first comment, because there must have been many times when you thought of the idea and even started to type what you wanted to say, but edited it and then finally delete it, sorry that you weren't able to push the send button, it is scary, but now you've done it then that takes bravery.
There can be nothing worse than not being able to sleep and it happens so often where you just toss and turn trying to get into a different position, hoping it will make you fall asleep, but night after night you actually dread going to bed, knowing that it's going to be another long night continually not being able to sleep.
I'm not sure whether your doctor offered you any medication and by this I also mean sleeping tablets just to try and break this cycle, however thismaybe something you want to avoid.
I have googled this and probably you have as well but here it is one option:
'Place the tip of your tongue against the ridge of tissue just behind your upper front teeth, and keep it there through the entire exercise.
Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound.
Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental count of four.
Hold your breath for a count of seven,' these are not my words but a suggestion from a site.
Another option which I had to do was turn my radio on to a station that played music I liked, don't have atalk back station on, this will only provoke you to think, turn your phone either off or put it on silent, sleep in another bed, try a recliner chair, however if you do start taking sleeping tablets you will be looking for them tomorrow night, go to a health shop and try some of their suggestions. Geoff.

Thankyou Geoff for those pointers, and your friendly welcome. Last night i finally crashed out and this morning i obviously feel much better, I am still aware that anxiety is just beneath the surface but that is something that I am trying to accept. I also googled tips and realised that I might need to follow a 'sleep hygiene routine'. My Gp did prescribe me something as you said to break the cycle and get some sleep fingers crossed that it happens 2 nights in a row. Thanks Geoff 😊
