Margaret
Welcome to the forum and thanks for introducing yourself.
This is a safe non judgmental place that is friendly and helpful.
Have a look around the other threads and you will find interesting topics.
Depression and anxiety can be difficult to manage at times.
The beauty of the forum is you can be private and still tell some of your story just as much as you feel confident with.

Dear Margaret
Hello and welcome. Beyond Blue is a safe place to chat. While others may read your posts no one will know who you are. I find that reassuring.
I think anxiety is usually the companion of depression. Do you see a counsellor/psychologist/psychiatrist? I see a psychiatrist regularly as the past couple of years have been difficult for various reasons. I am fortunate that my GP is fussy about who she sends her patients to see so it was not a surprise to find that the psychiatrist was caring and very good at her job.
Not sure how old you are and it doesn't matter here. I have commented before that old dogs and new tricks can belong in the same sentence. I hasten to add I am one of the old dogs and still learning. I find it quite stimulating to learn about anything I have not come across before, including learning to play the piano.
Tell us a little about yourself and your depression/anxiety. Explore the forum and if you would like some information, explore the drop down list under The Facts above.

Depression and anxiety may differ a great deal when you're young to when you're old, well I'm in the older bracket, I'm 62, but if you do have this illness, it doesn't matter what age you are, everyone is welcome.
We all learn from each other, one way or another, but all of us have had to go through depression and know how difficult it is to recover,

Hi Margaret,
I'm new here as well - so, welcome.
Your age doesn't define how easy things should be, so it's nice to see you reaching out.
I also want to see if I can learn something from the community here.
I hope you find some peace soon, even if it's just a little bit.
Take care.

Hello Margaret
Dropping by to see how you are going. Are you well? You said you are a private person and we do not want you to feel you must talk about any of the bits in your life you prefer to keep private. Maybe you can tell us about any hobbies you have. It's amazing the range of activities people enjoy.
How have the replies you have received helped you? I hope we can talk more about anxiety and depression. Many people here find it helps to talk especially when we we seem to have run out of options.
Mary
