Depression and anxiety both come together and OCD is caused by being anxious, please never give up and try again, but can I also say that your comment will need to be checked by the Moderators, just as it does for everyone else. Geoff.

Dear Detsa~
Like Geoff I'd like to welcome you here and say this is a pretty good place for finding others who have had troubles just like you. Their experiences and finding how they coped can be a real help.(Have a look around this Forum if you like and see)
It's a pity, but you cant send in books:( So for us here in this Forum we can only know what you've written in these two posts.
Anxiety is a horrible thing to live with and can take a couple of types of support to deal with. I suffer from it myself. I've found that medical support was essential and I'm really pleased that you are starting down that path by going to your GP.
As well as that there are a lot of things I found helped. For a start a healthy lifestyle with exercise, nutrition and restful sleep together with no recreational drugs and only a reasonable amount of drink all help reduce the general level of anxiety. If you can avoid people and situations that you think will rais your anxiety level so much the better.
Trying to get a sense of proportion is hard. Doing the above and trying for time every day you in which you distract yourself from everyday feelings is a must. I read a lot, and that does the trick for me, I look forward to it, what sort of things would do the same for you?
With actual attacks, breathing, walking elsewhere, thinking other thoughts and knowing one has been there before and come out OK all help. I also use an app for the smartphone called Smiling Mind to take my mind away and settle. It is free but takes practice to start with.
Having someone to talk to who understands is a real bonus. Perhaps if you can get your partner to leave Dr Google alone things would be better.
Anyway I'm very pleased you came here and hope you keep on posting (but no books please:)
Croix
