Side affect or anxiety

I came off anti-depressants after 3 years as it stopped helping with my depression.I started on a different medication 3 weeks ago, not sure if I am benefiting as I am suffering extreme dizziness in which is usually part of my anxiety anyway. What I would like to know is this a side affect of the tablet or is it anxiety? Should I continue the tablets? I'm really not liking this feeling at all. Will the dizziness subside? Each morning I take another tablet in the hope it will make me feel better, but I don't think it is, I feel worse.I feel my depression is a touch better though.Should I persevere feeling like this ?I'm not leaving the house as I'm too dizzy.

Hi Black Cat,

Welcome to the forum!

When you stopped taking your antidepressants, did you do so under the guidance of your doctor (GP) or another professional? I ask this because it is unsafe to do otherwise, and is something people may do without realising the importance of only changing medication with specific medical advice. If you are seeing your doctor about this, then that's great! Medication like antidepressants do take time to adjust to. This extreme dizziness is really affecting your life though, so don't hesitate to ring your doctor about this. If you and your doctor decide that these tablets are not the right medication for you, you will need to slowly reduce the dose (rather than just stopping them at once).

Your doctor is the person who can give you good advice in this situation. Make an appointment ASAP.

Best wishes,

SM
