New combination of meds and effects

I have very recently (two days) been given a new combination of meds: an antidepressant that I have been on for a year now at the same dose, doubled the dose of the meds that are supposed to help me sleep better and a new antidepressant in the morning. It just feels like my tiredness is exacerbated. I was feeling pretty tired before but now...every morning I feels like I've had a long day for five days straight, I haven't slept well and my head is almost ready to start aching. I know I have to give it time but...I feel less functional before. Just a rant.

Hi lookingforme,

I'm sorry you are having a difficult time adjusting to your medication change. If it doesn't settle in a few days I would get back in touch with whoever made the change even if only by phone.

I've been on my meds for years & years now. I remember when I first started with them I was told to take them at night. But it was almost impossible to get to sleep so I swapped the ADs to the morning & everything was sweet.

Sometimes all it takes is a small adjustment. Check with your doctor though if you're unsure.

Good luck, Lyn.

Hi Lyn,

Yea, I think I'm supposed to give it a couple of weeks if there isn't a huge problem. It's the one I have to take in the morning that's new. It's just a bitt difficult because I have an assignment due soon and being tired means I'm thinking about bed (not that, that is much different to be honest). Apparently, they're supposed to make me enjoy things more? I dunno....

Thanks Lyn

Hello Lyn

Wow! Two people named Lyn. I hope I don't get you mixed up.

Yes, ADs are supposed to make you feel better. Unfortunately, no one told them to start doing it immediately. It can take a week or two to fully click in, but there should be some small change after a week or so. Can feel any change, other than the tiredness?

As Lyn (yellownanna) has suggested, it would be worthwhile to contact your doctor. He/she may suggest changing the time you take them. Like the other Lyn, I have done this a couple of times with medication and it's then been OK. Give your Doctor a call and ask f you can change the med or change the time you take it.

Meanwhile, try to rest as much as possible. I know, when you have assignments due there is no time for rest, but try anyway.

Mary

Hi Mary,

Sorry about confusing you, my name is Joelle. I was merely just thanking Lyn for posting.

Today is only day two, so I'll give it a bit longer I think. I was just making note of it because, I was always tired I just feel it more acutely now. I already am on meds in the evening, this one is supposed to be taken in the morning I believe.

I was given these meds because all I have been doing is "resting" just the absolute lack of motivation or want to do anything at all anymore...except lay where I am. I only remembered this assignment yesterday and have to catch up on lecs...it turns out willing yourself to do something doesn't always work...ever.
