Nervous about counselling

I thought I should post a newbie hello. It seems the polite thing to do, rather than lurking.
I am married, mother of two, working part time.
I've been taking an antidepressant for almost four weeks now, (first time) and need to see my gp again to arrange counselling (also first time). Side effects haven't been too bad, just restlessness and low appetite.
I've realised that I'm particularly bad at talking about myself. I am a really, really good listener, but when it comes to talking, nothing comes out. It's almost as if saying "I'm fine" has become automatic.

Go Coffeebean!!!
You're doing well...steps are steps.Today, I am thinking of you as you head to your first session with the psychologist.Above all, be kind to yourself. I have found the sessions to be most helpful but just to let you know you might feel drained afterwards. Just let it happen because that's where you are at that moment in time and above all - be kind to yourself!!!!.
We are all here for you...and go well...

Wow. I didn't think it would hit me this hard, after having a good week. But I feel pretty crap right now.

Hi CB
Easy for me to say, having been there but these things happen. I know it is difficult, sometimes I find it hard when rescheduling occurs as I have built myself up to it, but hang in there.Know you are not alone, and, if you feel comfortable do let us know how you are afterward...
Sending good vibes..

Hi Coffeebean,
Sorry to hear the appointment got rescheduled, was it rescheduled for a close date?
Keep your head up, I know it's tough, here to listen if you want to vent at all.
My best,
Jay

My appointment was put back 2 weeks. I'm considering finding another psychologist, as my appointment clashes with work, and the receptionist wouldn't give me a different day. I can't keep taking time off work (I'm a contractor, so no work, no pay).
On a positive note, the magnesium is helping a bit. I was getting lots of skipped heartbeats (not dangerous, but disconcerting). The magnesium seems to have worked for that really quickly.

Hey CB
Glad that the magnesium is helping - it works for lots of things!
Agreed, it might be worthwhile finding another psychologist. Though, once in the "loop" so to speak, it is easier to arrange followups. What does your "gut" tell you?
If there's one thing I have learnt, it is to listen to my body...So go with what you feel..and let us know how you go if you feel comfortable...

Thanks Shred.
My gut tells me to find another psychologist. But my head keeps reminding me how bad I am at making decisions. My self-confidence is in my boots.

Hi Coffeebean,
Hmm, it is tough when you run your own business to get any time off. If you can, maybe try and look for another psych, one that can see you quickly and that suits your time schedule - maybe an afterhours one, I was seeing one that was after working hours, latest appointment was 7.30 at night which worked well, maybe try to find one like that?
Interesting about the magnesium, I haven't read ever too much about it but sounds like something I should. Did you take it for the skipping heart beat?
My best,
Jay

Dear CB
I know full well that feeling when your confidence is in your boots!. Concentrate on your gut rather than boots - and follow it.Try to find another psychologist if you can - even in the interim...I know when my psych was away I saw someone at Community Health who was good and then she also wrote to my psych...Running your own business puts demands on you that can make it extremely difficult. However, just as you put time into the business, you try to put time into yourself - these appointments are just an hour long...
I wish you well CB and keep in touch if you feel comfortable....we are here to support you through this for the long term...
