Hi All,

I am new both to here and to this depression thing. I was diagnosed with severe depression this past Sunday and just a little freaked out! But that's another story for another forum.

I am now on meds and the side effects are quite brutal - please tell me that these go soon and I will actually start to feel better.

I have lived the past few months or year or so putting up a brilliant façade, but now the cats out the bag so to speak, I am finding it difficult to keep it up for the benefit of work etc. So any experience on how long the good stuff takes to kick in and the nasty side effects to go would be most appreciated.

Thanks. 🙂

First of all I'd like to say Welcome to BB, and I hope that many of your questions will be answered and will get the support you need.

The thing is, there is so many different medication available on the market because, everybody has a different reaction to them. I have tried so many of them but, I've never put up with the side effects. As soon as I've noticed any side effect I've simply refused to take them and I've asked for a different one. Sometimes it takes a bit of experimenting before your medical professional will find the wright one for you. And usually they are affective after 2 weeks, but your doctor can give you a more precise answer about that.

So it's really up to you if you want to live with the side effects or experiment a bit to find a better one.

Good luck with everything and I hope you will feel better soon.

And keep talking to us, I'd love to hear form you again

dear Kfm, I too would like to welcome you to this site.

If one of the side-effects which concerns you so much is any sexual dysfunctional type then you would want to change this, but I'm not sure whether you are male or female, but either way this side-effect is irritating, and it's very unlikely to change.

If you want to get back to us about your depression please do so, as there are many of us who are or still going through their own depression issues. Geoff.

HI Geoff,

Just the nausea, tiredness and panic attacks in the middle f the night when your supposed to be sleeping as well as extreme thirst! But I must say, despite all that - I actually do feel better - no tears in two days and a half! That's a record! 🙂

Have a great arvo! 🙂
