Looking for a new psychologist or no?

Ive left headspace because I'm 25. But not to worries my doctor put me in with a psychiatrist about meds it was a waste of time and I dont need to go back to them so they said I can make an appointment with the psychologist. I did that in November.

The psychologist is only free every Tuesday and wednesday- Ive seen them once or twice. The last time I saw them was the first week in December. I could of seen them just before Christmas but I couldn't due to work.

They are now on holidays. I'm struggling at the moment I can't wait for much longer.

So I've done googling and found another place. Seems great and they have places everywhere and can get them me in.

Do I switch ?

Hey CMG,

It sounds like there's a bit of hesitation within you. Perhaps it might be a good idea to look at why you're hesitating. Do you connect really well with this one you saw early December?

If you want to stay but need to see someone, perhaps a cheaper alternative might be to call the support lines like BeyondBlue 1300 22 4636 in the meantime while you wait. Do you have an appointment already scheduled for when they come back?

Hey James,

Yeah so I've only seen them twice at least. So I can't tell if I've connected with them yet.

However I have been using lifeline and beyond blue but I need someone right in front of me. I need the face to face if that makes sense.

Hey CMG,

That makes perfect sense. No phone call or online chat can really replace having a person in front of you. I think if you need to see someone, then it's fine to see someone in the meantime. You can keep the appointment with your current psychologist and see how the two compare.

It would be good to mention to the new one that you currently have one already but they are on leave. They will understand and give you support accordingly. If you decide you like this one more, then there is no trouble with swapping either.

Your mental health comes first and both psychologists will be understanding of that.
