Headaches and Migraines

Is there a link between headaches/migraines and anxiety/depression? Lately I've been having so many. I take nurofen plus, panadeine but doesn't completely resolve them.

Just wondering if it's linked as I haven't discussed yet with my GP.

Also what do people do to treat them?

Thank you

Thanks Lynda

I don't know. I feel that I have recovered and getting stronger each day. My only issue is that I have no drive and motivation to return to work at present.

I think my GP suspects I'm not recovered given this and now I go in and say I'm having migraines and that's why she is suggesting the AD's..

But I'm not sure. I'm rather annoyed at present.

Thanks for your advice

Thanks for your advice snoopy.

Yes that's correct I was previously diagnosed with anxiety and depression. But in recovery (well my opinion).

I now go in with migraines and advised to take AD's

I don't think she believes I'm recovered because my outlook on life is different now. Ie things I once cared about I no longer find value in, but I'm happy and content like this. Who says how we should be thinking and feeling? Maybe we don't go back to how we were after such an experience and it's ok to be different.

Maybe I am just weird.

Anyway thanks for your advice have a good night

Hi.

Interesting topic of conversation. I was getting terrible migraines every 2-3 weeks lasting 2 or more days. I started on a preventative medication and it makes a big difference to the intensity and frequency. I think it is worth looking at the difference between tension headaches and migraine. I think when my anxiety is really bad I'm prone to tension headaches also. Makes sense. My whole body responding to the stress. There is a difference between that and a migraine though. For tension headache I take paracetamol and ibuprofen together and it helps. However, Aspirin as soon as the first symptoms come for a migraine is best. Then some heavy duty pain killers if it is really bad.

Brains are funny though. If your headaches don't match the classic symptoms or you have other symptoms, get an MRI.

Hope you get some relief!

Hi 150lashes,

Huge empathy for you here. I have been back and forth and up and down with the antidepressants to cure tension headaches. Please have a read of my thread called "chronic pain treated ONLY with antidepressants". I am about to post so it shouldn't be too hard to find. Happy to share and answer any questions once you read it.

Kind thoughts,

Carol
