First psychologist visit

Hey everyone not sure if anyone is interested or not but i had my first appointment with my psychologist. I was mainly talking about my feelings, symptoms and my past. It was great that my sister could look after my daughter as she doesnt go to childcare in thursdays. Unfortunetly she wont be able to look after her in 2 weeks time which is when i have my next appointment. And its going to be about meditation so the psyc said it would be great if i was on my own to do the meditation but doesnt look like i will be so he said still come even if i have my daughter ill just have to do the exercises at home which is less effective but oh well what can i do?? Also my doctor was able to push up my apoointment with my psychiatrist to the 18th aug instead of waiting tiill next month which is good and my daughter is in childcare that day so works outs well. Only thing is the appt is at 3pm and i need to be back to pick my daughter up by 5.30pm . Im sure it will be fine. Well thats it for now. Got some exercises i need to do at home to get rid of that horrible anxiety/too much adrenaline feeling and thats doing somethin high intensity it can be running on a spot anything for 2 min for 5 times a day. He thinks this should help with the anxiety. Hope everyone has a good day. Take care x

Hey there Chloe,

I'm sure there is more than just me interested. I'm interested in reading everybody's posts, because in so many ways I feel like I can connect to every one of you.

I don't feel like I am qualified to make any comments, except good luck. I don't have an answer to my anxiety - fortunately it's not so bad that leaves me unable to do anything - I just work through it as best I can. We all have different ways of dealing with it, and if running on the spot works for you, then go for it.

I don't have good days - a good day for me is a day that isn't overly bad.

Take care and keep posting.

Hey there Alias nice to meet u! Thanx for the quick reply normally it takes a few days i find or sometimes i get nothing at all. U seem like a really nice person 🙂

Hi Chloe,

Of course we are all interested:)

I'm glad your sister was able to take care of your daughter. It sounds like your first Psychologist session went really well. It's great to hear that you've already been recommended some coping strategies. Sometimes practicing these at home rather than in the office can be more beneficial, as that's what you will do in reality - try to implement these skills into daily life.

I'm glad your Psychiatrist appointment is now sooner. The waiting can be tiresome.

Keep us updated.

Yes the waiting has been quite annoying  AGrace. its great i can get in sooner i just need to sort out the public transport to get there. The coping skills r good to do at home as id look quite silly doing them in public lol.

dear Chloekat, can I first say to Alias, is that you don't have to be qualified to respond to other people, it's the experience of what you yourself have learnt and been through that is important.

Non of us are qualified as far as I know so we too just reply to people who are going through what perhaps we have as well.

It would interesting to know what he/she advices you to do, because there will be plenty of other people who are also suffering from anxiety that would be keen to try the same exercises. L Geoff. x

Thanx for your input Geoff. I hope some of the skills i learn i can post on here and others can learn or help them as well.

Hi Chloekat,

First visits are often the hardest, well done for going! In my experience of seeing them on and off for a few years before finally going a few times within 6 months, consistency is helpful (plus finding the right person to talk to).

Good to hear that your psychiatrist visit has been moved forward, that will certainly help.

All the best and enjoy your exercises!

Thankyou for your input Ben 🙂 My second appointment with my psychologist isnt until after ive seen in psychiatrist for the first time. They are calling it an assessment as to whether i need to keep going i think. Anyway thats it for now so take care x

Good Luck Chloe,

I'm waiting and waiting for my first visit, so I'm very interested to hear your journey - it may help me prepare for mine!

I had to wait three weeks before my psych could even make a booking... now I wait again till the actual session. Oh, the joys 🙂
