Feeling blah

CeCe_02

I have been on antidepressants for 3 or more years now and on the same one for most of this time. Up until recently they were really helping but I’m starting to feel really blah and almost numb about everything again and I feel very emotionless about things that use to make me happy or upset. I’ve lost my mojo again.

I am also finding it difficult to sleep at the moment (but I’m thinking that is because I’m starting a new job next week)
im not really sure if I should think about trying a new antidepressant? I’m scared that it will take a while to find another one that works for me.

Any advice?

Thanks

Hello CeCe, and welcome, my other comment may show as I pushed a key and it vanished, anyway, it does take courage to post your first comment, hesitating on whether you should and then alter what you want to say, so well done.

This AD you have been taking has been working, up until now, but the worry and concern of starting this new job next week has you worried, not because you can't do it but it's always nervous starting a job and perhaps this is the reason why you feel like this.

What I would do is go and see your doctor who may increase the dosage, it's up to them to decide on whether they change the AD, if I was in your situation, I would not want to change because then I'd have to dry out and then start a new AD which may work or it may not, and with this job I would not want to cope with this.

So please go and see your doctor and get their advice.

Hope this helps you.

Geoff.

Hi CeCe,

You do sound as though you’re feeling very lacklustre to me...just going through the motions. I think that feeling so indifferent to things that typically make you happy is unsettling...

I like Geoff’s suggestion to visit your GP (or psychiatrist) to review your meds. Maybe you might like to consider this...

I was thinking perhaps you might also want to mention your problems sleeping. Granted, as you said, it could be related to starting a new job soon. But I figured it wouldn’t hurt to also mention it too...although maybe mention your new job as well to give your GP or psychiatrist a fuller picture. It’s just a gentle suggestion but you can see if it suits you or not...

Kind and caring thoughts,

Pepper
