Hi,

Hmmmm... it’s nothing special to talk about myself. I actually don’t really know what I want here. I just wandering around to browse the a syndrome called Asperger’s syndrome as I worry I have it. I googled and I seemed to tick most boxes. 😞

I am panicking now. I have anxiety disorder for my entire life. Does anyone have an idea how to diagnose it and if any treatments available ? I normally have troubles of understanding people, I can’t read people’s minds, I don’t feel welcomed by any kind of conversations, I feel so lonely and horrible, I don’t like myself etc ... I feel so puzzled so I like to find out.

Thanks.

HI Bluebirdbrown and welcome to the forums.

I know it can be scary to thing you may have a condition. With my anxiety sometimes doctor google to make be panic about something that I may not even have. So my suggestion to you know is to try some breathing exercises for a few minutes or meditation. To help calm down your panic. I find this helps me.

Now dr google isn't always accurate. I find I tick a lot of boxes for multiple diagnosis. For example I tick a few boxes for various mental illnesses. I saw a gp and a psychiatrist, they told me I did not have bipolar, however dr google said I tick a lot of boxes and may have it. Just want to reassure you that dr google isn't always right. It is meant to be a tool. Nothing can beat clinical judgement of a person.

I suggest have a discussion with your doctor about your concerns. They can assist you and help let you know if you have it or not. I find that sometimes my anxiety can mimic other conditions. Example when I am highly anxious I get something called 'rapid speech or pressure of speech' this can also be a sign of bipolar, however I do not have bipolar (no mania).

I know this is hard to do, but I'd try not worry about it. I'd wait till you could discuss it with a dr. Hope this has been helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hiya Bluebirsdbrown

MsPurple has given you really great ideas about what to do and there's not much I can add to it.

I guess my thoughts are - what if you do have Aspergers? That's okay. There are many many successful people in the world who are Aspergers or who are suspected to be on the spectrum, these include -

  • Courtney Love
  • Anthony Hopkins
  • Tim Burton
  • Bill Gates
  • Woody Allen
  • Susan Boyle

So you're in good company. It's okay you know. The question I always ask myself and others is - what is normal? The answer is simple, there are many differences for many people.

Wondering if you're Asperger is okay, whether you are or are not on the spectrum doesn't really matter in the long run. You are you!! Enjoy who you are Bluebirdbrown.

Great to have you here reaching out to our community.

Kind regards
