Words of comfort, encouragement and wisdom

To all the beautiful people 🌞

Words placed in a particular order can have a profound effect on us.

Words can bring us a moment of comfort, give us a different perspective, or change the course of our thinking and outlook entirely.

I would like this to be a space where we share quotes that have meaning to us or that have the potential to bring some comfort or encouragement to somebody, even if just for the moment in which they are reading it.

I will start.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow." - Mary Anne Radmacher

Go gently with yourselves lovely people.

A shattered heart mends but it has stretched.
The stretching creates room for even more love.
In fact, the loveliest people are the ones who've been burnt and broken and torn at the seams, yet still send their open hearts into the world to mend with love again and again, and again.

~Victoria Erickson

For anyone who is feeling sad and scared or struggling in any other way, this next one is for you:

Your feelings are valid. You have the right to feel whatever you feel. You aren’t exaggerating. You aren’t being too sensitive. You aren’t being dramatic. You’re hurting, and that’s okay.

For those wondering about the importance of Values in Mindfulness this is for you:

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”

― Gandhi

I stumbled upon it accidentally this morning and wanted to share it 🙂

On personal growth/learning (or call it what you like):

It’s the questions we can’t answer that teach us the most. They teach us how to think. If you give a man an answer, all he gains is a little fact. But give him a question and he’ll look for his own answers.

- Patrick Rothfuss

Good one Peppermint

That is one of the main ways that Psychotherapists are supposed to help people. Ask them questions and encourage them to come up with their own answers to benefit themselves.

Irene.

Hi Irene (and a wave to all),

I hadn’t thought of it that way before as I don’t know too much about psychotherapy. That’s great to hear, thank you so much for sharing 🙂

Kind thoughts to all...

Dear Birdy and All~

I could not find a quote that said what I wanted so I thought rather than give up I'd try to explain what I was thinking when reading the title of this thread.

It can be a comfort when one is listened to, one knows the other person hears it all and understands

It can be an encouragement to find another has been where you are now, but has gone though to better things

It is wisdom to rest the mind away from the hideous present to fresh gentle thoughts that do not deny problems, just set them to one side for a little while.

Dear Everyone,

Thank you all Posters for sharing words that will help others in times of need.

Thank you Readers for visiting here and I hope something touches your soul.

Pepper, I really liked the quote about questions teaching us - so often we go through our days and lives not questioning very much really - it's when we do (question) that change is born (I believe).

Sir Croix, the words that you shared here, pretty much sum up the spirit of BB, do you think? Comfort knowing others will listen, Encouragement understanding that others have been in a similar head-location and seen it through to the other/better side, and Wisdom being here and engaging with others on a caring level to get us out of our own troubles for just a little while.

Peace, love and light to all reading.

On compassion & connection, a simple one about holding space:

Empathy is being with someone and feeling with someone.

- Tamara Levitt

beautiful birdy: I’m happy that quote resonated with you. I agree that it’s great to ask questions 🙂

On a related note, I think most questions have billions of potential answers. Yet as humans, I find it perplexing that we seem to have a tendency to fixate on about 5 “answers” or solutions, and just disregard or ignore the rest...xoxox

For anyone who, by choice and/or circumstance, doesn’t lead a more “conventional” life. For anyone who doesn’t live up to certain social/cultural expectations & assumptions:

It’s okay to live a life others don’t understand.
