Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

The time you spent with your twin grandchildren and eldest son sounds lovely. How special. It feels so good to laugh sometimes doesn't it?
The area you walked sounds real beautiful... A bit rainforesty.
I too have seen cobwebs like you said. Especially pretty in their unique way when there is dew on them. I am not fond of spiders though.
Will you visit them all again

Hello Dear Shelly,
I did say to both my sons, that I’ll visit them for Easter...Now Easter is fast approaching I am not sure I can do that.....While I was with them..it felt like it would be an easy trip to do....now I’m not so sure....
Do you see any Pelicans on your walks Shelly, I do like them then way they bob up and down on the water.... they do look to heavy to fly....I remember going to a lovely beach..(a life time ago)...and used to walk up to an old unused lighthouse, being high up I watched the pelicans, dipping their heads under the water to catch some fish...They are a very big bird...I have never heard a Pelican talk, I wonder how they sound....hmm might google that...
I hope your enjoying your walks Dear Shelly...I do like the way that you make walking a part of your life and health routine...
Hugs lovely friend..🤗,
Grandy..

Is it fear holding you back from visiting them Grandy? You could have a little easter egg hunt with your grandchildren if you wanted to. That sounds fun.
I think you have mentioned the old lighthouse before. The gates on Lighthouse Hill on the breakwall were opened today... being a weekend. I was too puffed out to venture up the hill today.
I think pelicans do make a noise... That old movie Storm Boy had them in it. Yeah they do look rather heavy looking to be able to fly. Maybe it is there very large pouch like beaks...
Occasionally you will see them perched up high on the tall lamp posts. I haven't seen any lately though.
Thankyou for popping in and talking with me.

Walked on the coastal walk this afternoon. Just wanted to walk up a few gentle hills. And there is some on this walk. Felt the sunshine on me, and there was a bit of a breeze. Once I was nearing the end of one way, I decided to walk down the concrete ramp onto the beach itself.
So I walked back that way. Sometimes in the water and sometimes on the sand. The water felt coolish.. So nice on my feet. I noticed the water here was a little foamy. Foamy from the floods further up north I am guessing. Looking down I noticed piles of seaweed, small smooth rocks, and bits of driftwood and sticks. I thought the small smooth rocks would be good to paint on. I found one the other day at the rec. It was so cute. On it was a painted happy looking bee. With the words "be happy" on it.
Anyways I walked on the sand a while until I came to the larger beach rocks. The beach in this area was different to how I remembered. Perhaps sand erosion from a higher ocean. The other beach I walked a few days also was different.
The rocks here felt like a maze in a way. There was narrow sandy paths amongst the large rocks. The rocks felt smooth on the bottom of my feet.
I made it to the end. I did enjoy this walk. Part of me wasn't feeling particularly motivated to walk. Sooo glad I did. Sunshine, fresh ocean air and moving more often just makes me feel better.

Today I walked in that historical town that I have posted about before.
I went walking with my sister. We met up near the river. We walked down to the river to have a look at what it looked like now. The water had previously risen over the banks and into the park down there. The water had gone down a lot. But we could see washed up river sand, trees caught up against other trees. The wharf was still partly covered in water. There were children playing in the mounds of washed up sand. Such fun and it was nice to see them enjoying it.
After we looked a bit we made our way up the small winding hill. Turned left into the main street in this pretty town. We walked along. We stopped and smelt the scent of these red roses growing on a tall shrub in the smaller park. Beautiful. We crossed over near the old timber bridge and kept walking along... Past the cafe then in amongst this avenue of what looked like an English cottage garden in pots. The pots lined the path and even the window sills on the building on the left of us. I really liked it. It is very much my taste of flowers.
We crossed over the main road now and walked back on the other side. These gutters are sandstone. So beautiful. We past a couple of old pubs. One is beautiful inside and sells yummy food. We have been in there may times to have a meal. Mine was mostly always hot chips or mashed potatoes with an array of fresh yummy vegetables. Then mushroom gravy on it all.
There was a small dog sitting with their human outside one of the pubs. A dog with a pushed in face. It was cute in a way. And it looked right up at me as we walked by.
We also peered into a closed cafe. Where they sell high teas. Very English. We read their menu through the window.
Another closed shop had little girls clothes hanging up on the window. They looked handmade.
We heard an alarm very close to us after looking into the little girl dresses window. As we walked along just a tiny bit more we saw it. The alarm on the chemist was ringing out through the air. Not to worry... I guy went in and turned it off.
Kept walking back to our cars then.
