Pets - tell us about yours

I was just searching for an old thread here about how pets help us with mental illness/health and it seems to be gone, so I thought I'd start another one.

As some of you know already, I have a black cat named Buddy and he's my life, basically. I have no friends or contact with family currently, so he's it. Knowing he's around is a great comfort and during bad periods he's generally the only thing that gets me out of bed.

So, go ahead and share anything about your pets and make us all smile.

You Mickii are an animal legend!!

I would love to do something like that but don't have the space and I would get far too attached and having to let them go over the rainbow bridge would break me.

My cat, Buddy is 5 and I worry about having to let him go.

Hi Mickii

Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. I think you are amazing and it makes me feel happy to know that there are people like you in the world. You have inspired me and I honour you x

Hi Mickii, What a beautiful thing to do - taking in someone else's pets. That would be a big fear for me if I had to go into a home or something and had to relocate my babies.

Earlier today Buddy was me-howling (meowing LOUD) at the back door...all because I was outside and he wasn't.

How dare I?!

Silly kitty cat...

You sure have a lot of nerve Music_Freak! LOL

In my neck of the words, it's so cold that Scout won't go for a walk. Put on her coat and try each day ...

I've worked out it has to be at least 15 degrees plus sunshine or it's no go. Honestly, sometimes she does my head in!

Just been re-reading this thread to try and brighten my mood, and noticed a lot of our pets responses to sneezing...

Buddy looks and me and meows, like I'm disturbing him, when I sneeze...another “how dare I?!”

I get meowed at when I do the dishes too, I'm not sure if it's the noise from the dishes or the fact that I'm ignoring him!

Hi Music.

I think I want a cat. I will be honest I am more of a dog person, but I don't believe at time in my life I can commit to having a dog. I'd need to be living with a partner and Id really want to commit to training and have enough time for it. I'd want a rescue dog so it may require more work. Unfortunately my mum is allergic to dogs, so I am worried that she wouldn't be able to visit my home if I get a cat. I am not getting one yet but I would like to one day

I find when I am really struggling with depression, anxiety and ED dogs and animals can just understand you and know that all you need is a cuddle and they give you an energy that makes you feel safe and happy

When you feel used and only good for one purpose...being the maker of your kitty cats leg tent!! 🙂

Hi everyone,

I love reading about everyones pets!

So mine.. I currently have a dog named Buddy - we rescued him and he's a chihuahua x jack russell (we think!). Ever since I moved up to the city I was committed to getting a dog, and he's been a great choice since he's totally okay with staying inside and doesn't go bonkers if we don't walk everyday.

I've always had dogs ever since I can remember. At one point we had 7 - all unexpected! We kind of have this habit of saving dogs - never going to the pound but like dogs that have come off the street or are going to be put down. Our hearts can't bear it.

I feel like dogs are the very best antidepressants. The way they just know when your sad and come and cuddle you - nothing else can beat that feeling.

I have 2 cats and a border collie. I could write a book about their individual antics and quirks, and I take a lot from them about how to live. They are loyal, happy and resilient. They don't want much and are quick to forgive.

The cats get me out of bed and the dog gets me out of the house. Id probably do neither without them.

i have a lot of respect for animals. We humans like to claim superiority over animals but they have used us to propagate, develop and evolve their species and spread their influence to almost every corner of the planet, even into space. Our species would not have survived without them in the early days. Who domesticated who?
