Hi Everybody
This is only the basic dictionary definition...
"Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment without judgement"
- Please be as blunt you wish....If you dont have an idea about mindfulness it would be great if you could let us know
- If mindfulness hasnt worked/or is too broad a concept for you it would great if you can let us know your thoughts too
- If mindfulness has helped you, please help others to help themselves by posting how you have embraced this mindset
It goes without saying that the forums are a judgement free zone and I really hope that everyone can jump in and have their say
Your input is highly valued no matter how you respond to this topic. There are no experts here...New Posters are Most Welcome!!

Big hello to all,
This is a great thread to share what has helped you with mindfulness and to share what you are struggling this.
I work on slowing down and doing one thing at a time as like many I am always multitasking and this can give me a headache.
I find music can help me focus.
Everyone feel free to contribute any ideas and questions. New posters always welcome.

Hi Everyone! Mindfulness can be confusing to many people.....Your thoughts are welcome
Hey Quirky.....Thankyou for your help and sharing your life experience on this topic
Quirky mentioned a couple of excellent points that can assist us with practicing mindfulness....
- Music is an excellent method to enable a state of peace (mindfulness) as we are devoid of negative thought input whilst being absorbed in the moment...Great point Quirky!
- Slowing ourselves down is another excellent aid to achieving some peace of mind too. Thinking slow....Walking slow...and even in a meeting or conversation....Talking slow can be a huge help
Just for me I can exercise mindfulness by spending 20 minutes in the garden connecting with 'mother earth' whether its doing some weeding or building a retaining wall ......and listening to some decent music at the same time provides me a 'clear' mind
Does anyone find peace of mind (Mindfulness/Clarity of thought) in other ways?
We would love to know how you find some peace in your life....You will be helping others if you choose to share
my kind thoughts and have a great Thursday!

Hi Paul and Everyone,
Recently a friend introduced me to a Facebook site called "Mental Health Prime" I believe it is from the UK. They have some really inspirational sayings and images. I enjoy seeing them on Facebook and find them to be uplifting.
I also like taking photos with my phone. It may be a flower, a view, something cute or what ever. It helps me to focus more on that moment and to appreciate it over and over as I look at the photos.
Cheers to you all from Dools

Good Morning Dools
Thankyou for helping out with your great tip
Dools mentioned "I also like taking photos with my phone. It may be a flower, a view, something cute or what ever. It helps me to focus more on that moment and to appreciate it over and over as I look at the photos"
This is a great tip as I also lose myself in the moment when I use my cell phone or camera taking a photo
Nice1 🙂

Hi everyone,
Dools, Thanks for the Facebook site , I will check it out.
As well as taking photographs on my phone , I sometimes look at happy photographs of loved ones if it am feeling a bit low. I find by focusing on people smiling and laughing, it helps to stop my brain over thinking.
Paul,
great to see your summaries here again,
I think sometimes a moment of mindfulness can just happen and we don’t realise till later, that the time in the garden, or the time mopping, or the time sorting books, was really a time of being in the moment.

Hello Quirky and everyone 🤗..
Today, well for a while now I’ve been doing the hards in a depressive episode....and decided to sit out on my front veranda..I have a 2 seater lounge that I sit on....Today not at all feeling like sitting, I layed on it and looking through the side, between the roof and the side opening, just watched the clouds as they continually changed shape...
I saw so many different shapes some clouds looked like dragons, others like dogs, horses, even one looked like a shape of an Angel with huge wings...once in a while a bird would fly across my line of vision...which made it all the more better...while I was watching them I began to feel my feet get hot...They we’re leaning on the balcony in the sun...With the occasional whistle of the birds that play daily in the bottle brush tree next door...it was such a peaceful calming time for me..which lasted nearly an hour and a half....When I can I also like to watch the sunrise, it gives the surrounding clouds on the outside of them a beautiful gold lining. Nature is my main way of doing mindfulness practise..
This is something I try to make time each day to do...today it has for a couple of hours taken my mind away from my negative thoughts to thoughts of nothing else except the beauty in our universe, and gave my mind and body some well needed peace...
I never knew about mindfulness until I read this thread and asked questions here..Now it’s something I try to do daily...
Kind thoughts....Love and hugs💖🤗....wishing everyone a beautiful day today..
Grandy..

Hello all,
Grandy, Like Elizabeth I found your postbpractical and inspiring..
i admire the way through all your struggles you keep trying and finding new ways to help yourself.
Watching the clouds is something we can all do.
I see in nature so much we can focus on, shapes and pattern in leaves, rocks, grass, shades of blue sky, the list is endless.
Yale people can share something in nature you notice . I used to get annoyed with spider webs thenI realised how intricate and different they are.
