Ideas for Xmas on my own

So the big day one week away.

My psych is in my head plan, plan, plan.

So, I've been looking at what I want to do on this very triggering day.

I want to be by myself.

I want to listen to xmas carols by candlelight on xmas eve.  Wake up xmas morning have a yummy breakfast with the mandatory delicious coffee (from Stomp for any Brissie coffee lovers), watch a DVD, read a book, do some painting, snack on a well presented very tasty cheese platter and just chill out hanging with myself all day.

Does this sound crazy to any readers? To me it sounds marvellous.  I know there is the chance that my mood may drop to -1000 but it will probably go there anyway if I do the norm and hang with family.

I've discussed this with my psych and advice seems to be balance, time with family and self.

I don't know, am I deluding myself into believing I can have a pretty good day hanging with me?

I feel like being around people makes my anxiety and depression so much worse so why not on xmas day give myself the gift of being with me, myself and I?

Any advice, ideas, thoughts much appreciated!

Thanks guys

Cheers Amamas

Hi Amamas

Great idea that you’ve come up with and I’m glad that you’re going to run with it.  That will be the BEST present of all … oh oh and don’t forget the day before to go and get your DVD to watch … but hang on, while out, you should possibly get two and make it a mini marathon!

It’s still a few sleeps away yet, and I’m sure we’ll be in touch before then anyway … but that’s so good that you’re doing what you feel best for you.

A little Seinfeld sign off here … when Elaine made a toast at a work function:

“Here’s to those who wish us well, And those who don’t, can go to hell”

Hey Neil

Rock on!  I'm a bit of a Seinfeld fan myself.  I used to live in Perth and they had this crazy competition in the middle of the city where the competitors had to watch the final episode of Seinfield non stop until there was only one remaining.  I'll never forget those poor guys they looked exhausted and filthy!  I can't remember how long they lasted.

What are your plans for xmas?

Wow, I would love to have participated in that … my daughter (13yo) is amazed when we watch the different episodes of a night when they’re on Fox … when I can literally quote what they’re about to say at different times.

Christmas will be a quiet one, just with my partner and our two kids (son 15yo – who we hardly ever see … he’s a hibernator in his room) and daughter (mentioned above).

Then a couple of days after Christmas, we then do my family thing … travel 3 hours to go see my Mum and my eldest bro and his family … with his son, recently producing another member to the family, making me a ‘great Uncle’ for the 2nd time.  I kept telling my nephew that I was great … and it’s now true … twice over.

How about you with regard to next Wednesday, the 25th of December?

Hey Neil

Sounds as though you've got a lovely day planned!

Have I told you I love your profile pic?  It reminds me of angel wings.  I truly believe that healing is possible and when that day comes it'll feel like flying.  What does your pic mean to you?

Well I'm pretty much going with my original plans for xmas.  I'm starting to look forward to it.  It's quite funny as I'm a real pacifist and yet every couple of years I love watching the Rambos.  Strange I know but I've got them out, not sure if they'll be for xmas day but definitely having a Rambo marathon soon.

Hi Amamas

Oh my gosh ... having a Rambo-athon ... call me bizarre, weird or hmmmm, I'm not sure (although I have heard worse!:) but I have the complete box set of all the Rambo movies.  😞  Yes, sad I know.

Um, no, you haven't told me that you love my profile pic ... but now you have.  🙂  🙂

What does my pic mean to me?  Excellent question and I'm not sure if I can get away with the answer, but all I will say is that it represents my surname.  🙂

Cheers

Hey Neil

I so have to follow your wisdom and buy myself that boxed set.  It's getting harder and harder to rent them.  Today the chick at the dvd store and I spent ages looking for part one until I suddenly remembered that it'll be filed under F for First Blood, not R as I was thinking.  Got there in the end but how cool for you!  Whenever you have Rambo cravings just go to your little boxed set.

I couldn't wait already watched First Blood.  What amazes me so much about that movie is how well it can tap into my emotions.  It doesn't seem to matter how many times I watch it it always brings something different up.  This time I was bawling at the end.

Damn good movie!
