--->>> OTT --- Old Thought Thoughts! <<<---

Greetings!

This post is about LIMITING-BELIEFS, or as me and my brother Matt now call them, Old Thought Thoughts - OTT.

---

This post will most likely not appeal to many people, because I am writing about our beliefs that we have about life and ourselves, that we all have had for much of our life.

Our beliefs are personal, and yet oddly the 'same' as well.

---

There is a school of thought that teaches us that when we identify the OTT i.e. I am unlovable.

Relate to the OTT, rather than from it.

We can then release the attachment to the OTT, as well as the aversion to the OTT.

For example -

A child is told that they are no good, useless and worthless, every other day.

-sadly, this is a story often told, by many.

As this child grows a set of OTT have been programmed into the mind-body of the now grown adult-child.

I am no good.

I am useless.

I am worthless.

etc etc etc

The adult-child now has an attachment to the OTT.

But also you would see an aversion to those OTT as well.

I am no good <- the attachment.

And, I hate that I am no good <- the aversion. The judgement for having the OTT in the first place, keeps us attached to the OTT.

---

Not all beliefs are limiting.

All beliefs are fluid.

They are mutable - liable to change, as all things in existence are!

But...

How do we release the OTT?

Thats what we're most interested in!.

I am going to share a few things of how I am learning to release all of the OTT that once ruled my life, and would love to read yours as well!.

1) Refer to the OTT being in the past. If we keep on affirming the OTT in the present moment, it stays in the present moment. By writing and talking about the OTT being in the past, youre correcting the memory. REWIRE!

2) I AUGMENT positive memories. Whatever they are, whenever they happened. This is why I actively look for things to be thankful and grateful for. Appreciation, heals! And thats now science...if youre interested in the research about this, let me know!

3) I have learned to ask for help, and to RECEIVE it graciously, whenever it comes to me. And, it always does.

4) I SMILE and LAUGH more. Theres research for this too!

5) I have changed my eating habits. I EAT WELL now. I am now on the Guts and Psychology Syndrome foodplan GAPS. I used to be obese. No more.

6) I EXPRESS in healthy ways - dance, music, write..

7) I take time out to LOVE - my family, friends, my dog bundy, nature..

REMEMBERING to LOVE is a biggie!.

And, whatta 'bout you?...

Hay shreddy,

What sport did you play mate?

Swimming is always good if your joints or body can't cope.

I would recommend hydro threapy. Perfect weather and all.

I was also very impressed with how quickly you recovered from your panic attack the other day.

What sort of technique did you use to help with that?

Please share with us.

When ever i had a panic attack it usually took a week or so to recover. Sometimes I needed to stay in hospital.

You seemed to bounce back pretty quick.

Do You have a lot of anixety?

I can help with that stuff too, if you like.

Please share...........

Peace

Matt

Hay panther man,

Hay lovelylicious,

I missed you too.

I really enjoyed your lovely words.

This thread needs some fairy dust sprinkled on it.

Please.....i do believe in fairys

Peace

Matt.

Shred,

I'm not going to dwell on the physical therapy aspect.

But, I am going to zone in on what you've mentioned re: imagination.

My special field is Creativity - Imagination and Creativity, are intertwined.

Two things come to mind...

1) Creative Visualisation Techniques - As you may know, pro-athletes use visualisation techniques to visualise the win!

We can see major positive results, across the board, in support of these techniques, for sports people, and all people in general.

If you close your eyes, you will probably 'see' an image, and most likely hear sounds, or more-so, sound-bites.

We can use our imagination to visualise greater health and happiness.

Lookup creative visualisation, and how it works.

I will post a technique for us all tomoz.

2) Shred, if you're able to watch the amazing documentary, "I'm Alive", this documentary is about the power of music.

The doco focuses on people with alzheimer's and dementia especially, but there is also mention of how significant the power of music is for those of us with mental health issues as well.

I sense that music and using music as a form a therapeutic healing for you, will be very beneficial.

Music - is so closely linked to memory, emotion and motion...that's now hard science!.

We can use the music that we love, to support the uploading of new positive thought-patterns.

Let's look at incorporating more music and creative visualisation techniques into your daily practise as well, okay Shred?

I will wait for you to respond, and we will go from there.

Hay crazy cool Shelly,

Im sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.

How have you been doing?

Peace

Matt.

Shred,

Excuse me, the name of the music documentary (and for anyone else interested), is ALIVE INSIDE.

It's a fascinating look at how music affects the brain!

Howdy!

OTT - "I'm fat and unfit, and I'll never lose the weight. I'm ugly, and unattractive. No one could ever love me, as I am."

NTT - "Woah, that's totally OTT!. If I keep talking to myself like this, I'll always be like this. I can include ALL that I have going on in my life, and I can still be as healthy and as happy as I can possibly be. One day at a time. I accept myself...with all my flaws, failings and faults. I know that I am loved by the people that love me. I can learn to love myself too."

---

When I was a kid, I was rather scrawny.

Food wasn't always available to us, times were tough.

When we did eat...we guarded our food like tigers in the wild.

But when I left home at 16 years, I lived with a beautiful Tongan family, they loved food, and encouraged me to eat.

And so I did.

I ate, and I ate, and I ate.

I ate because I was hungry.

I ate because I was sad.

I ate because I was bored.

I ate until I was morbidly obese.

I was 19 years of age.

When I was 23 years, I decided that I wanted to lose the weight, so for 10 years I was bulimic.

I wouldn't wish 'bulimia' on anyone.

It destroyed me, inside and out.

It has taken me another 10 years to get that sorted, and I am grateful to be here, because bulimia nearly ended it all for me.

I am now healthy and fit and getting better and better everyday.

For real.

---

I developed body-dysphoria with the bulimia.

I was thin, but I still saw the 'ugly fat guy' staring back at me.

The OTT as you can imagine loved it.

I spent years and years despising myself.

Thats years and years of the OTT going around and around my head.

Until finally I decided that I was worthy of living.

Because I am.

And, so are you!.

Here's what I do to keep myself as physically healthy as I can...with all the 'stuff' that I have going on in my life.

1) 80% Nutrition and 20% exercise - We are what we eat!

- I eat when I'm hungry.

- I eat what I want.

- I eat consciously

- I stop eating when I feel 80% full.

2) Stay hydrated - there's a reason why this is the second most important need of the body. Keep the body cleansed and alkalised.

3) Learn how to master the breath - for obvious reasons.

4) Get good sleep!.

5) Find exercise that works for you.

6) Deal with emotions with emotional competence. Comfort eating just allows the OTT to sink in deeper.

7) Limit Sucrose-sugar intake. We don't need sucrose-sugars etc in our diet at all.

Thank you Shred and Kaitoa for your lovely compliments, aren't you gorgeous! Hiya Matt, glad you had a nice dinner out. Hi everyone else too, sorry my morning brain doesn't cope with roll calls, I'll miss someone. But I send greetings and goodwill to all here.

Today I have to brave The Shops. If you find me in a corner shaking by the end of it, please administer ice cream.

I need to know more about this creative visualisation Kaitoa. Please explain. 😄

Hey Matt

Yes I have a load of anxiety but it comes and goes.

I got through the bad panic attack last week with drugs and working with a yogi friend of mine. Visualising a calm place where I felt free and safe and drugs...lots of drugs unfortunately. This yogi is incredible...just being there in the space with me and desensitizing the trigger. My psychologist also uses this technique.

Wouldn't mind your suggestions though..

Sounds like a plan SourceShield...willing to try..

Cheers
