Feeling Positive

Marley
Community Member

I haven't posted in such a long time and I've had some really serious dark moments but I feel like I've come out the other side.

I've told my doctor I'm sick of being on different meds as I don't feel they are even helping me. I also suffer 3 auto immune conditions.

Has anyone successfully come off anti depressants and stayed well? I want to try and eliminate most of my medication

Id like to hear from some people who are well enough not to take medication now

I Marley. I know it can be done going of meds and staying well, some conditions do not require lifelong meds. However it is very situational. I am not a professional but if this is something you are interested in I suggest you discuss it with your doctor. I recently changed medications which required me to go of my old ones. I also discussed my fears around reducing my old meds and not being on any for a short period of time before going on my new. I felt so much better telling them my fears and concerns. I also discussed how my medications were not being as effective on me as I thought they should (I was still quite anxious and depressed).

The take home message is: be open with your doctor, tell them your concerns and what you are wanting long term. Your doctor knows best and they know what they are doing.

Hope this helps
