It could be a few different things like age or several other things. Me I went to a urologist by referred got the all clear. Could have been one of meany cancers or just a infection of the bladder as mine was not prostate cancer. so dont freak out it could be just a mild infection

Hi HGR and welcome to our community forums

I can imagine how your worry is causing anxiety. Sorry to hear that HGR. I'm not a health professional so really can't provide much support about your physical health. Have you seen your doctor about the situation? As Kanga suggested above there may be a simple explanation.

I'd also imagine just talking about it with your doctor might cause anxiety due to embarrassment. I know that's how I'd feel too. However, if it were me, I'd want to know what the underlying issue is.

Has this just started happening recently? Has anything occurred to cause this do you think?

Kind regards

Hi, thanks for your replies.

I have never posted anything on line before and this is all new to me.

I feel more comfortable talking this way rather than face to face with someone at this point.

I`m in my 50s and have had prostate checks over the years and all good. No diabetes and blood tests done, no other medical issues that I know of.

Yes this has started to happen a lot more often recently. I have been working very hard lately and not sleeping well. To answer your question about what may be causing this, the only thing is apart from the working I`ve been having reoccurring dreams that cause me to wake up scared and anxious. This is something that happened to me as a child and I never really gave it a thought for 20- 30ys. Yes it was a sexual thing that happened to me.

This is the only thing I can think of that may be causing it. I feel bad talking about myself but I feel it may be anxiety?

Hello HGR,

It has been awhile since I have been on this forum so have just seen your post. I wonder how your condition is going and if you have stopped having the bad dreams or have sought professional help?

Bed wetting (or nocturnal enuresis) is something that I have been living with all my life and I have done a lot of research on the topic as well as completing a health degree from Curtin University. Research shows that 1-2% of the adult population are living with primary nocturnal enuresis, or more simply, have never 'grown out of' bed wetting.

In your case, secondary nocturnal enuresis is when bed wetting occurs after being dry at night, generally dry for greater than 6 months.

In both primary and secondary enuresis there are underlying but different issues that will cause the bed wetting. In your case of secondary nocturnal enuresis, it is important to speak to your GP to rule out medical conditions such as diabetes and enlarged prostate as you have done. Other contributing factors maybe be excess caffeine or alcohol consumption, or a mental health issue such as depression or anxiety.

In any case, it is important to know that you are not alone and support is available to help you through this period. Incontinence is not and should not be an embarrassing issue, just look at the many incontinence aids and products available in chemists and supermarkets which show just how common the issue is.

Take care and all the best!
