Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. I'd like to introduce myself. I'm 40 years of age, female. My interests include music (any genre), reading a great novel, watching comedy, Restuaranting, and learning new things. I suffer from depression and anxiety. Depression feels very lonely for me. I'd like to reach out for some support. Thank you.

The psychologist I found has a graduate degree in psychology, bachelor of social work, graduate diploma in counseling and master of counseling plus 2 other things. And it also states that not only is she a registered psychologist but also a accredited clinical social worker.

Hi Bluberry,

Just another ghoul. Bad energy. I'm yet to find a good psychiatrist. She has to get my discharge summaries from hospitals and then said she'll write a report. Is she deaf? I said I'd been cleared by the psychologist and wanted a second opinion. Not a report based on b.s. discharge summaries. I said I know myself really well and I'm normal. Can't they see outside the scope of medical reports?
They all band together.
Over them.
My medical reports are false!
Of course my words didn't penetrate, she's a ghoul.

Mocha,

Sounds like a very experienced psychologist. Worth giving her a go I'd say.

Yea, she sounds highly insensitive and a ghoul. So where do you go from here now?

Yeah she was highly insensitive. They just churn through numbers ( people) to make the profits. That's how it felt...well I felt nothing from her, no heart. Don't feel like she cared about me as a person. She was robotic.

Might have to find another psychiatrist.

Yes, best you do. They are robots and without emotion, I understand. I've been told to just 'shop around' for a good one that you're comfortable with. Personally, I'm scared of them after what I've been through. Your a tough cookie 🙂

They do band together. Allied health...makes you feel a bit like their enemy. pfftt.

Hi monkey_magic she does and definitely going to give her a chance and I think with those qualifications she can hopefully if I gel with and continue seeing her she can give me a accurate diagnosis 🤞. I’ve been stressing and panicking most of today that she won’t be one of those who don’t do the diagnosis/will reuse to as I’d love for piece of my mind I want a diagnosis as I’m the kind of person who feels better if I know what I’m dealing with. But I’d rather not rush it either so even if I had to wait say from 5-10 sessions then and she’s happy she has enough information ect ect ect to make a accurate diagnosis then I’m more than happy to wait if that makes sense? Besides at the same time even if I stick with her I’m kind of not expecting to not have a diagnosis before 5-10 sessions or way more as it might take that many to talk about the family history on one side of my family alone as both sides are a real piece of work. And who knows how many it might to talk about the family history on the other side of the family.

Agreed Bluberry.

Mocha,
That's what I like about my psychologist. He has taken his time in assessing me. Hopefully seeing your psychologist is therapeutic for you and you get what U need from her. And piece of mind.

Sorry I'm just trying to catch up lol...

Hi monkey_magic so can a normal psychologist and not a clinical psychologist give a diagnosis? I was referred to a normal psychologist but she’s not taking on new clients so I found another one but had to ring my gp’s practice and spoke to one of the receptionists to pass on I couldn’t get in to the one I was referred to and that I needed a referral sent to the one I found.

From what I understand and have experienced... any psychologist can make a diagnosis / diagnoses and indeed they DO! With or without "assessments" involving paperwork.

mocha, you can ask your GP for a printed copy of your MHCP and take it to anywhere you wish.
I do this.

YOU can find a psychologist and not rely on your GP to just pick one from a list.

Just a note to now and in the future, hope it helps. xx
