I can sort of see what your folks are saying, but it's your life. And you have such a long time ahead of you yet! Uni will be there when you're ready, if that's what you decide to do. Outdoor ed sounds great for someone who clearly likes the outdoors.

If you do something you enjoy, you'll be good at it. And that's really important for your self-esteem, job satisfaction, and your physical and mental health generally.

You know, I'm very impressed with you Jackson. It's not easy for anyone to reach out when they need some help. And young men often find it difficult. That tells me you're a sensitive, smart guy who knew what he needed. Trust yourself mate. And don't be rushed into anything you don't want.

Kaz and Paul are right,

you need to be happy in your career, whatever it is. My son is doing work experience next week in a primary school and helping out the pe teacher. You are definitely sporty and outdoorsy.

Yes, the people in cafes can make or break your day so don't say you 'just work in a cafe'. Not many people could do that and do it well. It's like retail, if you're not suited it shows in the attitude. I loved retail, even though i was told 'is that all you want to do, work in a shop'. Yes, i did want to just do that and i was damn good at it and proud!

Your step dad mentioned uni....and then getting a 'proper job'? With all respect to your step dad there is no such specie as a 'proper job'. It really a meaningless statement that I heard many times too Jackson.

You can do whatever makes you happy....other people's achievements or opinions are secondary in your life.

Outdoor Ed or Primary Teaching sound great. Even if you enjoyed working in a sewage farm the fact that you enjoy it is paramount 🙂 You are an articulate and kind person Jackson. Your qualities will always do you well in life no matter what you choose to do. Ive been in human resources for years and you have a lot to offer anyone you decide to work for

I had my dad on my back as well after year 12 saying that I could have a 'real job' too. I hear you Jackson

my condolences on the loss of your brother mate...sincerely...

Paul
