Unmotivated and Crying

Hello,
I can’t find any motivation and I can’t seem to stop crying.
I was diagnosed with depression a few years ago but have been really good for the past 12 months even going off my medication.
But I have felt a change the last couple of weeks. This weekend is a long weekend and I had so many exciting plans and I don’t want to do anything except stay in bed. I then feel annoyed with myself and start crying for no reason.
does anyone have any advise please?
Thank you.

Hey 🙂
That really sucks! I definitely relate to having made a significant amount of progress all to have it come crumbling down again. My first suggestion would be to go straight back to your doctor and discuss it again. Sometimes depression is purely mental (as in a psychological issue that can be addressed by psychological means) but sometimes it is physical and we don't necessarily have ways to diagnose this. Regardless, if anything has happened recently (whether you are aware of it or not), it may have triggered the depression again or you may have had some kind of hormonal or chemical change that could have done this. Basically, I just don't want you to rule out that this may be a possibility in order to try to hang onto the good times because at least in my experience, it just makes things worse 😞
My second suggestion is that you try to get as proactive as you can when it comes to dealing with depression which you're already doing by being on this forum! I assume by the way you have described it, although correct me if I'm wrong, that the way you are feeling now is not as bad as your depression has been. If that is the case, then now is the time to try to plan strategies for if it gets worse so that you're a little more prepared.
Ultimately, I guess only time will tell but I really hope that you're able to stay strong and kick depression's butt to get yourself some more good months 🙂

Hi 🙂
Sorry to hear that you're depression has returned after being able to stop taking medication for it.
I can certainly relate after I was able to stop taking my medication this year just have it triggered and hit me like a tonne of bricks again due to rather unfortunate incident after two months of doing well.
Have you tried small activities to help take you're mind off it like reading, watch some videos/movies or even a small walk so you don't overwhelme yourself too much too soon?
It can be frustrating at times since unlike a physical problem where you can see progress being made depression is mental so it's difficult to gauge how rough it'll be or how long it'll take to settle down again.
Asking for help is a step in the right direction as there's plenty of help here and a lot of knowledge to make the understanding and healing process a bit easier. I only just joined a day ago as I have my own struggle to deal with but coming here was the best thing I've done.
Hope it works out 🙂
