Hey everyone im only 24 and I started running my own building company recently. I’ve always been poor always living pay check to pay check but I could always see the bright side of things but now I’m making upwards of $20000 a week and it’s got me so depressed like big whoop I have money now what’s the big deal? I always thought I would be happy having money but i felt so much better when I had nothing I feel so useless at the moment and I have big plans for myself but I feel like I could be doing something else to benefit others has anyone experienced this or something like this at a young age ( I’m a big over thinker ) I also suffer from severe anxiety but I have that under Co trip maybe that’s playing with my thoughts? Any advice would be much appreciated 😊

Hi Assaad,

I can't say I know many 24 years old or really anyone earning that sort of money so it is a little hard to relate but I do think that you are seeing money is not everything and true happiness lies within ourselves. We can everything in the world but if we do not feel well inside then it means nothing. Similar to how when celebrities go through mental break downs and people go how can they have a break down when they have everything... simply put, they have everything material but inside they are struggling and that is what counts the most.

I, too am constantly overthinking things and suffer from anxiety like yourself, it is good to see you have it under control but I still feel there is stuff there where a psychologist may be of benefit to you to discuss all these feelings, explaining them to a trained professional may really benefit you. Have you ever thought about this?

My best for you,

Jay

Hey jay thanks for your advice I’m not a big fan of seeking professional help for the simple fact that I like to fight these things in my own i feel like it’s part of the learning curve

hello Assaad, no matter how much earn or have in their bank account, that's not going to stop them from having depression and the list of famous celebrities are endless, and unfortuately it's going to stop.
I think most people want to overcome this insidious illness by themselves, and rightly so, because sometimes they want to keep it from everybody else, but eventually it can't be disguised, people notice a change in what you do or even say and notice a big change in your behaviour it can't be hidden.
The trouble is that when you try yourself you work on those areas that are easily fixed, but it's not these that are causing your depression and these are only repercussions from those deep rooted problems which you don't know about or maybe too frightened to even consider them.
Don't be afraid to contact a psychologist, I was and that's what kept me in denial, in hindsight I was silly but have learnt an enormous lesson, get the help you need. Geoff.

Hi Assaad,

I understand what you are saying, for many years I was much the same, still do it today, try to fight things by myself but in the end of the day there is only so much you can learn about fighting these battles and I can only recommend seeing the psychologist yourself because there really is great benefit to it.

My best,

Jay

Hi Assaad,

Do you need an assistant? What you earn in a week is more than I earn in a year!

Seriously though, it is a bit like when a person decides to move house thinking they can leave all their troubles behind. Problem is those darn problems tend to find their way to exactly where you are.

Like others have mentioned, all the money in the world can not buy happiness, it can certainly be very valuable health wise.

I'm wondering if you have enough time to share some of it with charities and volunteering? May help you to find a deeper sense of meaning and purpose perhaps.

Maybe you were into sport or may still be, or some other interest. People in the community may appreciate your skills.

Wanting to fix your self can be very beneficial also. I have found doing research about my mental health issues helps me, as does talking to a psychologist.

We each find different ways to get us through. Hope you find strategies that work for you.

Cheers for now from Dools

Hey there sorry for the extremely late response I rarely use this I have managed to find a way not be be depressed and it’s to give back currently trying to start a charity and been helping a lot of people in the mean example I’ve meet a few people that didn’t have a place to live because they had no money and no work so I’ve employed those people and let them stay with me until they can get in there feet again I’ve completly concoured my anxiety and my depression had completely gone by just doing it on your own I feel like if you seek professional help you will always rely on it and never really move forward that’s my opinion I could be wrong I like to fight my battles on my own that always makes me stronger thanks for replying guys really means a lot 😘

Hi Assaad,

Congratulations to you for managing to conquer your and anxiety. That is excellent news. Wonderful that you are able to help others as well, all some people need is a bit of a helping hand now and then.

Guess that is the same with mental health issues, some people are able to work at it and find their own remedy, others need the help of professionals.

We are all so different in many ways, hopefully we can all find solutions individually and/or with the held of others.

All the best to you Assaad. Not sure if you will be sticking around here or moving on. Either way, thanks for getting back and letting us know how you are getting on.

Cheers from Dools
