I want to disappear.

Haven't been on here for a long time. currently trialing my sixth different antidepressant. Everything I have tried either has nasty side effects, doesn't help or both. I feel sick all the time and am becoming increasingly withdrawn and disinterested. I want to disappear so I don't have to do anything or see anyone. I am not suicidal and I am not a danger to myself or anyone else but I have had enough of everything.

Hi Peter

I can hear the pain in your post. Im really sorry for the dark place you are in. Can I ask you, are you seeing a psych or a GP for the AD's? I have had depression since 1997 and have been on the same SSRI since.

My prescription came from my crackerjack GP who has an active interest in depression/anxiety. There were some side effects for me too.

Do you have a good GP that you can see often? Even though I see a psychologist, I see my GP frequently for 'tune ups'. Sorry about the questions, just trying to ascertain how often you have a chance to vent to a doc.

Having depression is like walking around with a heavy blanket over us. It can be difficult to find our way.

You are not alone Peter

My kind thoughts for you

Paul

Hi Peter,

Medication changes definitely do suck and can be incredibly debilitating, especially when you've tried a bunch of others to little positive effect. But what else do you do for your mental health besides meds? Medication can help a good deal but in conjunction with things like exercise, meditation, psychotherapy and keeping an active social life they're often much more effective than just the meds alone. It's really easy to feel beaten by your illness but by forcing yourself to do things you can regain control of some aspects of your life.

Much like Paul said, you're best off getting yourself a good GP and a good psych, as well as participating in the little things that can have a small benefit. Let us know how you're going,

Pat.

hi Peter, trying your sixth AD maybe the one that finally works for you, but it is such a headache going through that amount of AD to find something that works for you.
You can't even try and be social when you feel nauseated or if it is affecting your sexual needs in not being able to stimulate yourself.
If you have just started this sixth AD there could be a few side-effects to begin with that may only last a few days or so and then slowly subside away, but as Paul and Pat have said you need to be in constant touch with your doctor, and let's hope that this one is the right one for you. Geoff.
