Forgot meds - Feeling the whirlpool of suck

Helarctus
Community Member

I was distracted some last night and forgot to take my evening medications.

The logical half of my brain understands this, knows this is something I can ride out, in a day or two things will even off and function will be restored.

The emotional half is already in a panic, cursing and flailing. Hammering fists on the inside of my skull; the sound of the keyboard is a pin strike in my ear and the prospect of getting out of bed a torment.

Any suggestions on ways to rush the uptake or manage this downswing are appreciated.

Helarctus.

Helarctus - oh dear

I'm glad that your logical brain is still engaged. When we know there is an end point to our discomfort, it is easier to ride it out. I'd suggest being really gentle on yourself today. Just do what you need to do. Put off anything difficult for now, if possible, and do whatever you need to be comfortable. If it's a doona day - so be it. Get cosy, burrito up, find a good book, netflix. If you find yourself really low - call someone.

As the saying goes: this too shall pass.

Hard to focus and finish thoughts today.

This has been sitting on my screen since 7am

Remember to breathe

That's ok. Just sit with it.

Remember to breathe is great.

Hello Helarctus, if the medication (antidepressants )has been in your system for quite a while, then my doctor has always said 'do not try and catch up by taking the medication at an unusual time' if you have been taking them for a long period, you will be able to cope until your next dose, this depends on what you need to take and any concern contact nurse on call 1300 60 60 24.

Best wishes.

Geoff.

Thank you all, this morning and last night were bad. Dark thoughts in dark spaces.

Still waiting to be able to feel the texture of the world through my skin without the distance between contact and recognition.

Everything and everyone is alien. Maintaining the illusion of productivity is difficult.

Hello Sophie,

This seems to be taking longer to rebalance, layers of numb and a delay between the thought and response in my hands has me sequester myself.

Fortunately it has been a week for self isolation so this appears normal.

If this persists much longer I will contact my doctor.
