Hi everyone
I am new to the forums I've had depression and anxiety for over 10 years now which has been a huge struggle balancing 4 children and work life as i work 6 days a week I've always found it a huge struggle to find motivation in my life just enjoying work like I used to and hobbies etc and just being happy around my family I always feel like I'm bringing them down because of my constant crappy mood and not being able to smile I've tried a few different medications I'm on one at the moment and have been for some time however it helps with the anxiety but I feel very spaced out on a daily bases and seem to be stuck in a horrible mood all the time.. does anyone have similar conditions and what works best for you?

Hi Onehooligan (great name!), welcome to the forum.
What you've described would be familiar to quite a few of our members. Unfortunately the 'spaced out' feeling seems to be a side effect a number of drugs, although for some people and not others, depending on the drug. I have experienced it on particular antidepressants.
It sounds to me like you should have a chat with your doctor about the particular drug you're on and the side effects, and whether they will resolve in time.
I'd also recommend doing your own research. Although we always need to be cautious about Dr Googling, really that's moreso in terms of diagnosing. There is plenty of straightforward info on the net about different types of drugs for depression and anxiety and what their side effects etc are.
I think this needs to be properly investigated before you feel you have to accept that brain fog etc is the price to pay to lower anxiety. It need not be.
Hope that helps
Kaz

Hi Onehooligan,
Yes great name:) I am sorry to hear that you are feeling a bit down and "spaced out". It sounds like you are very busy, that's for sure. You have alot going on with 4 kids and working 6 days, I think you are amazing. I am feeling lazy right now:) I agree with Kazzl, good to check the medication and dose with the GP. Do you have anything that you do for yourself? Interests or hobbies or just time out ? I always find I am in a better mood if I can do something I like just because I want to, not a have to thing. Just know you are not alone and you can contact us any time, call us on 1300 224636 or chat and let us know how you go. Personally I admire your energy and what you accomplish in each day but I understand that you may not be feeling the best deep down. Wishing you all the best! Nikkir x
