I got to admit,I love reading at the best of times. Those of us who love to read tend to get the most out of books.I'm a big fan of books that I can learn from.Self help books, relationship books, etc. There's something worth learning.I even read up on dating books just to relearn some skills. As a guy I also love the guy stuff, cars, hobbies, interests, man cave, etc.
What book are you reading? What books are you reading? What helps you?
Thanks.

moon,
I like memoirs and autobiographies. I have just finished Jimmy Barnes life story and am now reading Helen Keller’s story. I like stories about people overcoming struggles.

Hi Quirky
Have you read Long Walk to Freedom? I'd highly recommend it. And, for anyone interested, the Mandela exhibition currently offered at the Melbourne Museum is well worth a visit.

It's a bit of a trashy book..
though sometimes we've gotta let ourselves indulge in things that we think are silly..
currently reading Warm Bodies (Isaac Marion) , a zombie book based on the movie.
I love apocalyptic themes.
ha, wonder if there's some psychological reason for it

I'm one of those people who happily re-reads books, as much for the enjoyment of the tale told as for how with some books what you get out of them changes as you age or society changes.
An oldie but continual favourite is John Wyndham's "The Kraken Wakes" written as a sci-fi (cosy catastrophe) back in 1953, now resonates with the climate change issues of today.

Having just told you on another post I don't much like Sci Fi Paws, The Kraken Wakes was a terrific read. Thanks for reminding me about that one, I might try it again.
I recently read Late Nights on Air by Elizabeth Hay, a Canadian writer who worked as a radio writer and announcer in far north Canada in the 1970s. Set then it's an account of the relationships of the people working in a radio station in a remote part of Canada and their trip by hiking and boating up the far north of Canada - the description of the scenery and wildlife is just wonderful. Elizabeth Hay has written a couple of rather bleak books but this book is very enjoyable.
