I got to admit,I love reading at the best of times. Those of us who love to read tend to get the most out of books.I'm a big fan of books that I can learn from.Self help books, relationship books, etc. There's something worth learning.I even read up on dating books just to relearn some skills. As a guy I also love the guy stuff, cars, hobbies, interests, man cave, etc.

What book are you reading? What books are you reading? What helps you?

Thanks.

I'm really enjoying a series called Comoran Strike, sort of rugged Sam Spade meets girl Friday as they try to hold together a detective agency and deal withtheir (separate) private lives - plus ptsd and a prosthesis for a leg
the author is ostensibly Robert Galbraith, but in reality J.K.Rowling of Harry Potter fame showing great writing flexibility.

idk ive been procrastinating on things i actually want to do so yeah maybe my concentration is down. recently feels like i only have the energy to read mostly non-fiction and sometimes like, renaissance era stories currently for some reason? all i do is just marvel at how the characters in old books can do things like, recount an entire conversation they had once play by play for 20 pages

my favourite short story is the husband stitch by carmen maria machado; nsfw, discusses misogyny, has some horror elements. about a storytelling woman, her relationship with her husband, and his curiosity about the green ribbon on her throat (yeah it about that urban legend) i read it in an anthology but im pretty sure its published online too.

"The Woman I Am"......autobiography by Helen Reddy who recently left the planet....

I love autobiographies... that sounds great Moonstruck

I love them too. Helen was much more than a singer. A qualified hypnotist who believed in past lives..and was very interested in all things spiritual...

she had an out of body experience when a schoolgirl after taking a bad fall and suddenly was floating above looking down at her body on the floor before becoming conscious....she said from that day she had never feared death.

I saw the movie recently about Helen but it didn’t mention about past lives or being a hypnotist unless I missed that.i too like. I like memoirs too and will look for her book..

Thanks Moon

that's amazing her interest in the spiritual

would've enhanced her art for sure. thanks for sharing - sounds great. Have you read any other memoirs? Or quirky either?

I haven't read any in lockdown. I really enjoyed Amy Schumer's biography last year.

Hi Quirky....I believe she began exploring this other interest of hers, much later in life, not at the peak of her recording success......

Let's see...Jacki Weaver Raelene Boyle Julie Andrews Ray Martin Kerri Anne Kennerley Ita Buttrose Derryn Hunch Jessica Rowe Charlotte Dawson Michael Caine Michael Crawford Joan Collins Michael Parkinson Maggie Tabberer...and the list goes on.

I think their stories in their own words more interesting than any fiction...that's just me...
