It would be so great to have a thread here where we can chat about almost anything. We can have fun, tell jokes, share stories, you name it!

There's a "BB Cafe" thread in the general area where lots of people chat daily and have established some nice light hearted conversations, it's treated as if it's a real cafe, there's even virtual baked goods and coffee!

Let's create a chat here for anyone to join, in particular the GLBTIQ community to let their collective hair down and chill out. It's a safe space to be yourself.

How are you going with life and also the iPhone ? Our weather is now warming and expect a nw flow this weekend that will carry water which this ground could definitely use . Desert here again at present .

Recant : On the station where my life began ( nearly 14 yrs old ) in Western NSW . Would draw straws before bed , got a lot of short ones ! The short straw person had to get up an hour earlier . Thick ice ( sometimes ) on ground and go out on the big tractor and yard the horses . Devious creatures ❤ . Horse paddock was smallest on property , 640 acres and they knew every trick in the book ! Yard then then breaky and first light back in the yards and get them ready and bridled and saddled .

We had the same horse all the time . I rode a middle aged mare , dark chestnut sort of colour with black maine & tail .

One day coming up out of one of the big irrigation channels she slipped and rolled over the top of me . We both were ok , bit muddy ! I stood with her cuddling for a long period and after that we were very bonded . When I left station I spent an afternoon in the horse paddock with her , me sitting cross legged and her behind with her jaw bone on my right shoulder while I ever so gently stroked her nose . ( teary moment there ) . Beautiful creature !!! ❤❤❤

Morning All and Jo.

My Buffy girl/dog lies at my feet right now, with her head resting on my foot tops and I can move, but she is so comfortably set I feel I should remain as her resting post whilst I write some more stuff.

9.9 c, feels like 7.0 c, Cloudy. Very high chance of rain, easing to showers by late morning and becoming less likely this evening. The chance of a thunderstorm this morning. Winds W 20 to 30 km/h. Daytime maximum temperatures between 12 and 15.

Perhaps I'll be able to take some raining photos, I've none of those yet.

We are supposed to get the rain band today . I have an appointment in big town 130 east this afternoon and if finishes late will camp there and come home tomorrow ? We get flash flooding on the highway so if there is heavy rain I will park up if after dark as there is no timetable .

Last night was yet another of bad behaviour at the quarters opposite , red & blue from 45 east & from 45 west . Probably I am a target now as the one from 45 west came over and we had an informative conversation with quite a good deal of humour .

This has all been going on since the visa workers left after they found out the mill owner was stealing from them ? ( wont go there ) He is not nice and no locals will work for him , so we get a workforce of people indentured to him from the justice system,( its pretty sad as there are some ok ones but most not so the good ones are tarred with the same brush ) . Been 2 years now I am informed since the govt people took the visa folk ( best neighbours ever had here ) away . He applied for more but was told never !

Hi everyone we are waiting for our rain , thought would be wet outside but no . Was watching tv last night but was so exhausted when got home ( kind of forgot to eat all day ) . Turned out to be a struggle to find energy to complete the day . Post ga I should remember all this as it always happens for me . Take off at full noise and run out of fuel ? Be ok by end of month ? Hope so as is a bit like crash & burn at present .

Reminds me of a trip in the old yellow Mack in the late 70's .

I had left the lead trailer in Derby and run up to Wyndham with some steel ( as a single , with dog trailer minus the dolly ) . Picked up 2 mt 20 ft containers then back to Derby Meat Works where the lead had 1 loaded 20 ft refrigerated container on it plugged into power pulling temp right down .

A bit over 100 km north of Fitzroy Crossing just North of Cadjibut jump up at 0100 I pulled up just short of Emu Plains driveway . Was 2/3 of way across a 300 km stretch of dirt road . There were 4 tires with nails in them , all going flat together ? All of the tires on rear axle .

Had no spares left and as containers were mt I could run singles if needed and very careful ? Nice moonlit night . I turned onto the station driveway and went to bed . Enough is enough sometimes , 20 ton jack under centre of axle & deal with it later !

Tube type tyres back then , had to pull them of and repair as the 2 in the rack flat as well . ( already done nearly 6000 km on this trip )

Little black flies walking on my face , first light , new day etc . ( natures alarm clock in that country ) .

It took me till 1330 to do the job and get going again . Lit a fire , billy tea etc while I worked. A few mates pulled up and helped a bit , they had their trips to do though . Could take 2 hours of hard graft to do 1_tire . At least only punctures . Fixable !

Hi Jo, I missed the rain pics, but did get some mirror surface puddle pictures that came out quite well, so at least half a win!

Today I have taken more pictures of the massive oak tree near the railway line across "our" street... lol. then the battery died. So I came inside and made Tunch, which is the meal between lunch and tea.

I was under cyber attack saturday, fought off the offenders with yet more bloody software security.

One full moon night , half way across the gulf off port Adelaide . Not a wrinkle on the silver water . Sitting quietly in the cockpit of my 32 toot yawl . It was so calm that I created a ripple by moving my hand . The balance was that fine . Have only seen that calm one other time . Was hypnotising . The water looked like mercury , and no noise other than occasionally an aircraft would come or go . Realised how rare total calm is . Sat for hours being dead still fitting in until in the early hours a very light breeze woke the patch of sleepy rest we were in up . Memorable moments . Funny the things that come to mind sometimes . A nothing moment that was,everything ❤

Minus temps again , heater on and hot drinks . Egg morning I think , LD & I are ready to serve whatever you want , as long as we have it ❤❤❤

Early summer 89 I was driving express trucks ( over nighters , only our overnight took 32 hours ) east - west . A quiet night , calm with broken high cloud and full moon . Westbound about 100 km into the basin ( between Eucla & Madura ) on the eastern side of WA on Eyre Highway . A little bit of light drizzle every now & then . Was a bit weary and getting along pretty well .

On the eastbound trip a couple of days before , there was a detour for roadworks on this bit , I was looking ahead ( scanning ) to catch the signage for the detour so I had room to back right off for the interruption .

Starting into a sweeping left hander which was looking familiar I came to the detour . It was closed but the road ahead was scaring me .

Smooth formed and rolled but no bitumen & a little wet . In the corner now ? In this situation you only have one choice ( in 2 parts ) grab the edge of the inside windrow ( left hander , left hand windrow ) and hold the throttle exactly where it is & hope like mad that you will be in tact at the exit ?

Old 42 was a cabover Kenworth with torsion bar suspension and they lean over to the stoppers when going to hard in corners . So now the tiniest ( imperceivable really ) bit of left hand down and hold it all like that and watch the movie unfold in front of you . The old banger ( endearing name for a truck you love ) slowly slid progressively around the bend on slippery surface . Ended up kissing right windrow coming out of corner .

Pulled up got out to smell the roses and give the truck a pat . Leaning on the bull bar I charged my pipe and lit wile watching beautiful cloud to cloud non stop lightening that had just started . Like a veil of lace above , no thunder , just beauty . Thanks 42 ( many wild adventures in that one ) .

Yesterday was a blur , early start and fell into bed at 2000 . A lifes highlight , pinnacle day really . Thank you all . ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Spring is happening now here , still cool mornings but had a/c on all the way home yesterday . We have a few different species of birds here now that visit in spring and early summer . The galahs have been here since the beginning of August , pretty early for them . Hope we don't get severe storms this summer . See how that goes,I guess ?
