It would be so great to have a thread here where we can chat about almost anything. We can have fun, tell jokes, share stories, you name it!

There's a "BB Cafe" thread in the general area where lots of people chat daily and have established some nice light hearted conversations, it's treated as if it's a real cafe, there's even virtual baked goods and coffee!

Let's create a chat here for anyone to join, in particular the GLBTIQ community to let their collective hair down and chill out. It's a safe space to be yourself.

Amber that sounds pretty lousy all those people leaving the rest to do the work load ? I guess a lot of work forces have a component of slackers ? Just means the others do the work and consequently are at work more time than they may want ? Overtime is good if it fits but not if it doesn't . How are you , and guitar ? Pulled out of Travellers Village ( WA/SA border ) eastbound early hours one morning in the middle of a ferocious thunderstorm . 20 or so km out is a big parking bay on left , there were maybe 15 trucks there . Storm was right on top of us and as I passed it a huge bolt came down over me and split into huge number of tracers , not touching the truck but landing all around me ? The warm glow in the cab instantly became blinding white , Terrified !!! Looking in the mirrors I saw all the trucks coming out to follow me . Had radios all shut down and in wind and heavy rain would back off substantially . They stayed behind all the way to Penong ( 5 hours ) ? I fuelled there and they told me when I asked why ? they said they were terrified to and thought I must have knowledge they did not and let me lead them ? Very violent storm that raged all the way . Penong had much damage . xxxx

Zoom was good to , once I got it to work ? Makes it easier to read how people are so can respond better .

Hey Jo I love your road tale I enjoyed the way you wrote it, exciting and epic because I imagine it all happening in the middle of nowhere. The visuals are always better outside and away from built up areas. I like a bit of white wash when I come throw I feel victorious, you must have felt awesome driving point in convoy and threw a storm. My world is good neighbour doing evening lamb feeds more overtime, my guitar man is off on a cull, he could probably take more feral just playing his guitar. The dogs are good we have a weimaraner dog staying with us for a week. Moby just loves Dude they make hound songs a lot, having a visitor has badly unsettled Diva but everything gives her the irritates. I tried to take Divas picture but the phone makes her aggressive and all photos are not keepers I will have to sneak photos when she is asleep. Back at work more overtime Boss still fuming he is a bit of a drudge, I find it hard to understand masked people, something is lost when faces must be constantly covered. I don't like to look people in the eye, like Diva it is too intense, so this mask business is weird. However life must go on so I return into the fray. Thanks for being brilliantly happy it helps a lot.

Hi Amber , Glad Moby has a friend to stay and the choir sounds beautiful , I suppose Diva could do the solo's ? Maybe not !

Covid stuff is really getting its teeth into us all in some way . Our cost of living has gone up significantly here since 2019 ? The age pension has not . All but the lowest relief payment in NSW is significantly higher than age pension . Could be living under a bridge I guess ?

I have had to pull right back with the pilot work because of transphobia ! Cash flow has pretty much dried up now .

Thank you for last bit of post . Sometimes I have wondered if my glass half full stuff is appropriate ? When all goes quiet I flinch thinking is it me or others just busy ? ❤ hugs & happy day xxx

A sailing story , early 1990's . Was off the south east coast of SA @ 2100 ( approx ) on sse heading motoring . On board a beautiful 32' yawl that I bought in Port Adelaide and prepared her for sea in preceding months . Had a small aft cabin . You could put your arm around the mizzen and sit on front of that aft cabin . A large moon was low on the rise in the east .

The water was alive with phosphorescence and every ruffle was a light show . Looking out to starboard ( rhs ) I notice movement . Coming straight towards us were two bright trails in the water , torpedoes ? Very fast !!! They appeared to be locked onto us !!?? My heart rate went ballistic , terrified as they. closed in , ready to go to Davey Jones' locker by now they did a right angle turn maybe 5 mtrs off and slowed to play ? Dolphins in the phosphorescence ❤❤❤

Glad to hear you are back on deck today Taffy, I hope you enjoyed your day off yesterday..lol although I can see that you are still taking things very slow today which is very cute...mwah xx Great to hear that you are back in the kitchen tho and I will have pancakes please, with all the trimmings...yum!

I can hear how saddened and somewhat taken back by the disappearance of the FB friend. It does hurt when we make connections and for whatever reason people just leave, whether it was too confronting for them, or whether the connection brought the situation to reality too much and they were not ready yet, there could be a million reasons and you can be there all day and night thinking of why, I think to just accept that they may come back in the future and they may not and that you did have a connection with them, but now they have moved on. Does that make it any easier to accept, no, does that make the hurt go, no...but it is like here a little bit too..you chat and you work through things with people and then just like that one day they go on their merry way, it does take some getting used to. It would make you a robot if the connections formed did not hurt when abandoned. It shows your beautiful heart Jo.

I am looking for the compass bearing but it is not obvious to me..trying!

It is lovely now with some of the lockdown restrictions eased all though there are still a few things that are limiting but essentially it is nice to be back in the office with people, and to have the kids back at school. They are happy too to be back with friends and to have their courses resume.

I had to laugh at your comment with regards to your "rats nest" hair, I think that is pretty much how we are all rolling with lock down and appointments cancelled and with working from home, a beanie does cover a multitude of sins..hahaha

I am enjoying the Olympics, have you managed to catch any of that, it is some nice feel good moments in this time of mostly sad stuff on TV.

The media is somewhat bothering me, a few suicides reported yet no one used the word, why? We are trying to hard to smash the stigma yet the media do not model this...so very frustrating for me.

Hello great day all workers have return, the boss is taking the day off maybe to let things blow over. He is an ok boss and his father was our old boss but his father was more hands on, so the workers compare them. I don't care so long as there is no overtime Yay. Your dolphin tale is romantic and full of the sort of drama that brings people together, dolphins are lovely naughty creatures. I heard on the radio that male dolphins have boy friends to live, love and play with and only visit the female dolphins for breeding. They also like to throw around jelly fish like their playing rugby. Pulling back on pilot work, good for you I get the sense you will do what is right and when it is right. Back on the home front the weimaraner is behaving sensitive to Divas fear aggression, he Dude gets down and turns his head sideways, Moby never did this cause this is his territory, but Dude is trying to reach her, animals are amazing.

In the old days when gps didn't exist we used paper charts , and you needed basic knowledge to navigate . For coastal a hand bearing compass was used . Lighthouses & topographic coastal anomalies were used . 2 fixes ( min ) taken so when laid on chart the resulting lines cross and thats position at time of fix .

If you stood in World square in Brisbane pointing due north and turned left 90° you would be on a heading of 270° . The compass has 4 main reference points , NSEW . You need W and put that in place and should get you there . -o -e-s- . Look for LD she is there I am not very good at cryptic lol ?

In eastern Bass Strait @ 1500 I was laying on bow of little yacht and talking with dolphins . Dragging finger tips in water , one D was coming close and talking to me . D swam on an angle for quite a while looking into my eyes . They have big eyes , deep brown & wise . Suddenly moved in and ever so slowly and gently swam gently dragging my fingers along its back to the dorsal fin and time stopped . I ever so gently massaged the dorsal .Time ???? Suddenly did splash and frolicked with us and then gone . Filled the soul in one hit that one ❤❤❤❤❤

Muffin day indeed and while it was kind of dry and a little disappointing I still ate it..lol!

Yay for freedom and yes, have a few plans over the weekend but nothing like I would like to do which is just essentially hang out with my friends, we are still not allowed to do that yet.

My ability to use a paper chart is somewhat limited, while I think I get the 270 I am not sure I am in the right spot..lol..looked under Jo for a pic of LD but still think I am driving blind here....hahaha

What a gorgeous story of the dolphin Jo, they are such beautiful creatures and so intelligent. That would have been a totally breathtaking experience to be that up close and have that interaction..wow!

I am still laughing at you having to pick pancake batter out of Taffy for at least a week, bowls everywhere and not many pancakes in the stack, typical of me to pick something that causes so much kitchen drama..haha

I have recently joined this FB group that a lady has started that is connecting people with a penpal situation like in the old days, where people wrote letters to each other. It is such a great thing and she is connecting people who don't have anyone in their life or who are feeling lonely and they write letters to each other, and even people who want to be apart of it to be penpals to people who are feeling disconnected, it is so wonderful and is called Connected Au, I am waiting to see if I get put with anyone to be a penpal. Very exciting!

My kids are not in line to get the vaccine although I am sure it will only be a matter of time until we are including kids in the mix. Not long now until I get mine, so I am looking forward to having that all done with.

Do you have anything exciting planned for the weekend? I will be busy with kids sports now that we are back into that again and it is also the anniversary of my brother's passing tomorrow so I will do something to acknowledge that in the best way possible seeing that a visit to NSW is off the cards right now. I suggested to my dad we should plant a tree or something so that we have something here to have as a memorial place when we are not able to go to the Snowy to be with him.

Stay warm my friends and will be getting the heater fired up this weekend that is for sure, the winds are so cold and fierce lately I am not sure what is going on but I am not a fan!
