It would be so great to have a thread here where we can chat about almost anything. We can have fun, tell jokes, share stories, you name it!

There's a "BB Cafe" thread in the general area where lots of people chat daily and have established some nice light hearted conversations, it's treated as if it's a real cafe, there's even virtual baked goods and coffee!

Let's create a chat here for anyone to join, in particular the GLBTIQ community to let their collective hair down and chill out. It's a safe space to be yourself.

We just need a name 🙂

Hello from the freezing cold South...it is dark and it is only 2pm....it feels so much like winter today! While I have made a better wardrobe choice today, it is still so cold and I am not able to get warm, I think a bath tonight and turn the heater up to full and then to watch a movie or something...maybe something like "Devil wears Prada"...one of my faves!

The weirdest thing and the cutest thing is happening as I type, there is an Ibis and he is pecking at the door trying to either let me know he is here or he is trying to get the bugs that he can see from the lights that are on overnight that have fallen on the floor, I would like to think he is trying to get my attention however I think it is the latter...he is so loud and making like a honking noise!

My chai was delightful today and the coffee man (J) gave me two little muffins today..should I share...I would like to think I did but I greedily ate them both..sorry...bad friend!

Your hoodie sounds super cute and I love grey and pink together so the hint of green too would look so nice, good on you and as you say, baby steps! While the meeting sounded a little bit like a shambles there is nothing nicer than sitting under a tree and then to top it of..pizza..yum! It sounds like it actually turned out better than you thought which is awesome.

WOW...the weather sounds absolutely freezing where you are so I feel silly complaining about the 5 degrees in the morning here....I cant even imagine -3.7...eeekkkkk!

Well there is not much planned for the weekend at my end, do you have anything fun that you will be getting up to? I might do some baking and the floors will need doing but aside from that I really have got nothing to do, sounds like a movie marathon kind of weekend...lol

Well off to do the mail and to wrap up this work day so I get get home and get on with doing nothing...lol

Self service again today , the fearless leader ( LD ) & I are still in bed . Snugly warm bed ! A bit of aftermath of az shot . Thats the excuse anyway !

How are you coping with lockdown dear friend Sarah ? Kids cruising through ? Cats loving the company ? Shame its so cold as gardening isn't as fun in the cold . No fun at all in the rain ?

I call " Ibis's " "Airbus's" as in the aircraft . Bin chickens are interesting to watch . Generally perceived as grotty and they seem to live up to that . Can live side by side with gulls but the gulls presentation is usually one of neatness where as the Ibis always looks like it just got out of bed ?

Movie day sounds appealing . Will send more muffins . Will get Taf to do that so let me know how many arrive ?😂❤

This cold reminds me of a parking bay just west of Iron Knob on Eyre Highway in SA . If you ever want to experience lazy miserable cold this is a good place to try .

Dreams got me this morning ( wish they would knick off ). All good now as am properly awake . LD is snuggled under the sheets with me . Not super cold but enduring , not sure which is less tolerable . I'll go with enduring I think .

Meeting and result was another thing that exceeded expectations .

Still the isolation I feel here bites a fair bit . fb is interesting . The diversity of whats of interest to people is fascinating. Sometimes I think "REALLY " ???

Our Transcendents meeting is going to be zoom for everyone so no Brisbane trip or visiting yet again . Still will go early to R--- on Moday for 0800 hairdressers appointment . K is going to dye my lashes , do brows and trim the hair . I wondered how all these activities would feel and how long till I would enjoy them , pleasingly not long at all , love going to hairdressers .❤

Jake brakes ! You are mechanically minded I think . Will go with that for now , let me know if am wrong ?

2 types of exhaust brakes are used , 1 is a butterfly in the exhaust manifold and the 2nd is far more efficient ( The Jacobs Engine Brake , aka Jake ) . This turns the engine into a compressor . It opens the exhaust valve just before top dead centre on the compression stroke . That is the individual pops you hear as rpm becomes low . Shuts the fuel rack at same time . If used with skill you can cone into Sydney from the west ( through Blackheath ) to the bottom with cold brakes if you need them . Everyone has their own style .

Was driving a lovely old W model ( the old long nose Kenworth ) as a block truck in Perth many years ago . On the Albany highway there is a long and steep hill at the very edge of suburbia . I used to come down there with 2 decks of cattle at 30 to 40 kmh without any brake application . 10 to 15 minutes off the journey . That truck had a KT 19 Cummins which is 19 litre engine so had enormous braking power on the Jakes . Most trucks today ( Caterpillar & Cummins are 14 or 15 litres @ 6 to 700 horse power . This is mainly highway trucks . Volvo 16 ltr , Scania to 15 ltr .European 550 to 700 + ) European engines do not have Jakes , butterfly system instead .

Something strange happened over the last few days and would like your thoughts on . Going to run out of space here so will do a second one or maybe leave it till tomorrow ? Have been journaling it and like Inspector Frost I need answers and I want them now ! Its ok been writing it and sure it will become apparent over next few days . Its not bad but I just can't seem to understand just what happened and being who I am I want very much to know ? Not dark is all good .

hello to all, so is it cold, I didn't understand the fuss in Sydney, scared me to see dogs and kids dragged into a protest. Diva the dog is mean in the cold she has two jumpers but she wants the heating on, the heating is programed to come on at 5pm. Best of luck to all.

I mowed the grass yesterday . Still bit odd from az jab , better than last time though .

Met an artist posting ( on fb )lovely pictures ( mostly landscapes ) , a good eye so would like or love quite a few of them . Felt a connection before even looking at profile . When I did look at profile I wanted to chat and put her ( trans lady ) on friend list . I messaged and gave tiny intro of me as my profile is almost empty ( privacy ) so she could judge whether to friend or not . We did and had a bit of chat over couple days . Story was sad + she is winning in small steps , has now retired to solitude from whence she came , door closed but not locked . Thats all good but am puzzled by the connection and its manifestation . No idea about it ? Where how and what ??? We had much less chat than 1 of these posts ? Very little personal stuff either way ? Have been writing it . Keep you posted .

I had to laugh as yes, my mechanical aptitude does include the knowledge of the "Jake Brake" but I was still ever so grateful to have you share that with me, letting the engine slow the truck does always make it seem so much louder and tougher.

I am also very keen to hear what you would like my opinion on or my thoughts, that is if you are still up for sharing that, as you know I am so very much more than happy to give you what ever I have in the tank as far as thoughts, knowledge, opinions and mostly love and support. I am super excited to hear about what has been consuming your thoughts.

I had a very quiet weekend and the movies included "Intouchables" which is a French movie and is just so wonderful, if you can manage subtitles I would highly recommend it, a real tribute to friendship. I also watched Casino Royale and while I am not a James Bond fan I didn't mind it too much, it was pretty luxurious and full of fancy stuff.

I am so enjoying hearing about all the new people you are "meeting" and the connections you are making, I think we can see here how you don't have to see each other or even "KNOW" each other to really know each other..if that makes sense. I think I have shared things here with you that I have not done with friends I have had over 20 years! I think when you find people with whom you connect it reaches beyond seeing and chatting in real life, even though this is real life but I think you know what I mean.

How are you little Taffy? I am sure you are curled up somewhere delightful and having an afternoon snooze, so very jealous!

Every one is home today, me the kids and the cats so it is all a bit full on here with the internet getting a huge workout between working, schooling and streaming.....but hopefully the lockdown end is in sight and that the kids can get back to their friends and back to normality, me too for that matter.

I actually have no words for the rally in Sydney and the one in Melb too for that matter, it is just stupidity at its finest if you ask me....if they stay at home we can get this darn thing over with and they can get on with their life and there is no need to protest about anything, I get the frustration but hey, we are all feeling it..just do the right thing...rant over!

Ok well I am going to turn the heater up and see what is happening on the Olympics, I am actually enjoying watching some of the events and mostly the swimming.

I am very puzzled by what happened on weekend ? I simply have no idea what happened . The extreme fragility of humanness was one thing . I was so very careful with the brief words I typed , so no damage or hurt could be generated . Have reread quite a few times and would not change any ? She was clearly struggling and told me had to retreat . I said bye and would answer message when and if and thanked her for the pictures and such . Got home last night and no sign of her anywhere ? The thing that got me was the connection ? Was just looking through pics on profile and like my remote sunrises and sunsets anyone with a reasonable eye can do but you have to be there !! Maybe showing me fragility ? Hope she surfaces for more pics one day ?

Got a date for surgery to , yesterday ! 26/8/21 . Wow am not slowing down here ! Got eyelashes dyed yesterday . Love it , still look like old les bat though . Happy with that to !! Hair looks like a rats nest while growing it , so beanies are on for a while yet . ( not that bad really ) Enough ramble , thank you very dear friend for enduring this journey and ramblings . hello to all, it has been crazy at work today 10% off staff have bunked off using sick leave, it started on Friday see they can get an online sick certificate due to the covid and so more did it on Monday and yep even more today. Rumour has it their not unwell it is a small town so my boss is sending out trump style texts. For the 90% at work it just means over time which has boss wild. I hope you all are having a better day!
