The Transcendent Rainbow Cafe - social space for LGBTI members

It would be so great to have a thread here where we can chat about almost anything. We can have fun, tell jokes, share stories, you name it!

There's a "BB Cafe" thread in the general area where lots of people chat daily and have established some nice light hearted conversations, it's treated as if it's a real cafe, there's even virtual baked goods and coffee!

Let's create a chat here for anyone to join, in particular the GLBTIQ community to let their collective hair down and chill out. It's a safe space to be yourself.

We just need a name 🙂

Labour day is at the other end of the year in NSW. Today was a work day. Today I was in another town about two hours away. I have some rather fantastic staff there so it is always a pleasure to go and see them. After returning home I repaired a bicycle that I rescued from the land fill for one of the parents on our caseload, he is going to be stoked...

It was a holiday in S.A. but I still had to assist one of my old dears. Good thing I was there as she was having a rough day and felt very depressed. I soon had her laughing and feeling a bit better about her day.

Shame her electricity kept tripping out though! A 40 minute wash load took nearly 2 hours by the time I kept flicking the fuse switch. I had already chucked the toaster out into the garage as that seemed to trigger the safety switch. Not sure what else was going on!

In the end all power restored itself apart form the lights and ceiling fans! Good thing it was not a hot day here and she was planning to go to bed early anyway!

An electrician on a public holiday would have cost a small fortune. Her family are staying tomorrow so hopefully they can sort it out for her.

Hi Mrs Dools,

Hehehe your story reminds me of when I moved into an apartment after I split with my ex. I lived on the 2nd floor. There was a lady downstairs who was grumpy that cigarette butts kept arriving in her garden (It wasn't me!) She mentioned it one time, you know as you do in a loud voice aimed at the one smoking (me). I had a friend over and we were being complete tools laughing and joking and carrying on, she actually interrupted US, then started to have another go at us for giggling.

Anyway, I had this toaster I bought from woolworths. (bad move) It was the toaster out of the movie backdraft I think. A crematoriator in a nasty plastic shell.

My friend and I joked that we were going to invent a new olympic sport. Instead of the hammer throw it was the toaster throw. The winner is the one who got the toaster in the lady's garden!

We discussed "decorating" the toaster by painting a cigarette butt on it, but I think that would have added insult to insult!

Nuff to say, the toaster didn't end up in her backyard. We were restrained, but there were many times we laughed till we almost wee'd about how we could get mileage out of the "toaster throw".

Thanks for the memory trigger Mrs Dools 🙂

I hope your old dear continues to feel better.

Hi All,

I like your toaster story Paul! I have another toaster story myself.

When we moved here tot he country, I joined the local volunteer fire fighting group. One summer we had dreadful fires. I have a beeper on me and it had been going off the whole time I was assisting one of my elderly ladies.

She asked if I would be leaving her early and I told her no, but would leave as soon as her time was up. (Not when she dropped dead, but when her assistance time was completed!)

Well, her time was up  and I said I had to leave to help with the fires, but she told me I couldn't go until I had fixed her toaster! I am not an electrician nor a toaster fixer uperer! She was adamant I was not going until I had the thing working.

The toaster had a digital readout on it that was stuck on No. 9. Not at all good unless you wanted to eat charcoal. To cut a long story short, the toaster was unfixable by me. I even phoned the company who made it for instructions. An hour later she accepted the fact I could not get it to work and I was leaving. That was an hour of my time she had for free and expected!

Now when we have fires in our area, the people at the fire station ask if I will be available or if I will be fixing toasters...or washing vacuum cleaners! That is a whole different story.

Hope you have all had a good day!

What is on the menu tonight in this Café anyway?

Cheers all from Mrs. Dools
