The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

I'm a little on the lighter side this morning. Last night I won tickets to "The General" which is a black and white movie and they are showing it on Sunday at my local art gallery. They are having a live piano accompanist who will be playing the scary fast music and low-down piano where it is warranted. It should be a blast. I also won some Keno Pretzels today when I pressed on my ticket so have a bag of pretzels to give my partner to have with his hommus this evening. Both are small things but am excited. I have decided to appeal the NDIS decision and am currently working out a way to do this. I will keep trying. They are not so much interested in my mental health, but both my (not working) feet. I am going to try anyway.
Oh goody, the kids are on holiday up here, I have half ordered my son to come and watch Top Gun tomorrow and he has agreed! He's not a fella who likes going anywhere, so I am excited. Then it's the Elvis movie next week.
I like the look of the savory slices on the view might have one of them with a Coke sugar-free to go. Gotta conserve that sugar somewhere. Thanks for the good wishes.

I like the idea of savoury slices - but watch the salt. Can't win!
I love the idea of a pianist playing the music for the Black & White movie, right there, 'live'. I think I'd go just for the music.😺
Study well, Paws, taking short breaks too, to have a virtual puppy cuddle. One of them might find your finger, & give it a gentle gnawing. Nothing sharp in their mouths yet, but even that won't be too far away. I could feel where all the teeth will be. 😺

Hello everyone,
Hope you are all keeping warm.
I have 2 hot water bottles to snug up with tonight. I don't love the cold but I do like to rug up. Flannelette sheets and hot water bottles are my favourite.
Anyone else have ways they like to keep warm?
Oh and hot drinks. I love those

Hello & good very early morning, Sister Moon, & everyone,😺
Yeah, I'm up early again. I've been awake a while, annoyed at the current audiobook I have been listening to. Too much whispering. Then it's stopped a couple times now, as if I am not getting a good enough internet signal. I don't understand; I can have this site working & posting etc. just fine.
So, now I am hungry. I am going to have some soup for breakfast.
Sister Moon, I've been baking, making pie, quiche bikkies, & cake, all to my own 'near enough is good enough' 'recipe'. In other words, I'm just throwing things in a bowl, mixing & maybe including a frozen pastry sheet. 😺 Warms up the room & smells great too.
I dread my next electricity bill!
I don't like the cold either - being cold messes with my mental health. Sometimes I need to do something to mitigate the cold I feel.
I have a small heater, but it is only of limited use. Very short range warmth from that thing.
I ought to really get out more. The sun on me feels very good.
I would really like more morning sun in my flat, so I could really laze in its warmth like Mekitty used to do. So, when the sun rises in a while yet, I, mmMekitty, will once again adorn BB Café's window sill.😺Enjoying my salmon omelette.

Hi All,
mmMekitty, yes morning sun in winter is lovely, I do hope you get to sun yourself again soon. All that cooking sounds yummy!
When I was on this forum a few years back one of the regular contributors used to share what he'd been cooking and recipes with us. I always enjoyed reading it. Unfortunately with my tired brain fog I can't recall his name atm, sorry. It'll come to me the second I post this I'm sure.
I'm having a quite morning this morning, had a sleepless night Friday followed by my daughter having gastro yesterday. Feeling burnt out. Going to watch a show while my now much improved daughter is happily playing with lego.

Sister moon
someone will think of the name.
Are you thinking of a thread just about recipes or part of a larger thread. .
I am so cold I am doing as many chores , bill paying from Bed.
Glad your daughter has improved.

Want to know more about what I actually cook? Just ask, but remember, I don't measure anything, turn up the overn to nearly half - to half way, & chuck ingredients as I feel seems close enough. Cake mix needs to be thick, but not so that it lumps up, not as thin as for pabcakes. I admit my bikkies don't stay crunchy after I've put away what I don't immediately eat on the day, so I'm not got something right, I guess. Still taste good.
I remember, too, I wasn't using self-raising flour - I'd made a mistake when I ordered plain flour last time I bought some. I did think to add some baking powder, maybe a quarter teaspoon. Splash of milk, more if mix is too thick, more flour if too thin. I'm playing too. 😺The cake I made, I forgot to add some cinnamon. & that makes me think I want apple in there, too. But I' also would like to try making something like banana bread. & a savoury varioun. I have pesto &/or tomato paste (pizza flavour) & cheese. I'm wondering if the cheese will go 'invisible', & I will be wondering, "where's the cheese? I know I put some in there. Why can' I find it?) That seems to happen when I put the cheese in omelette too soon. Only near the end. Ought to get some fresh carrot, too. Nuts are very expensive, so I won't go for something like carrot cake, but include some in the savoury mix.
😺Just have fun.
I guess this way of cooking, like how I play with the 'Garage Band' app on the keyboard, is my way of colouring outside the lines. I used to be told off for being messy with my colouring-in? I wonder why it was so important to fill in areas completely, & stay within the lines? It sounds to me like instilling conformity at a young age. My childhood was full of lessons to conform. All the 'how-to' instructions, & methods, with so little flexibility.
Any thoughts, anyone?
Warmly, ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi sister moon the only thread I recall with recipes is one by ecomama called Easy peasy recipes-please share yours.
I use to put a few recipes on that thread.

I think it would be fun to see recipes on here, I'm a bit of a blob here and a squirt there kind of girl too, but I love reading recipes. I'm sure there are many cooks who post here! I was thinking of chocolate crackles the other day and how many I had as a kid, but you don't see them anymore. I think of a lot of food baked a long time ago that is not around anymore although I see Coles has revived "lifesavers".
I had the best experience this morning, watching the silent film at the local art gallery along with the piano accompaniment. The film was called "The General" and it starred Buster Keaton (who was brilliant). The theatre was nearly full and everyone had a great laugh. Buster also directed the film and did his own stunts, and I'm sure he must have hurt himself as he fell down a lot. The piano was great, not too intrusive and built on the tension of the film.
I hope everyone is well!
