Quotes that I like

I couldn't think of a more creative name for this thread so I kept it simple. I love coming across quotes that make me feel good or make me think about a situation in a different light. I have a "little book of confidence" that I used to carry in my handbag for when i needed it and I have a few other little books with quotes that I reflect on now and then

I thought it would be good to share some and encourage others to do the same.

For starters I have:

If you want to know someone's mind, listen to their words. If you want to know their heart, watch their actions.

People are not addicted to alcohol or drugs, they are addicted to escaping reality.

Hi everyone,

I have a beautiful quote here. Before I mention it, personally, it is a great quote when one feels let down when he or she shares her dreams. I think this quote can definitely be used as a check box on one's dream!

"If people are not laughing at your dreams, then you are not dreaming big enough".

No idea who to attribute this quote to ...

I am thankful for the difficult people in my life. They have shown me exactly who I don't want to be.

"If people are not laughing at your dreams, then you are not dreaming big enough".

Love that Jasjit.

EVERYONE laughed at me and said I couldn't do it when I wanted to apply to Uni for my Degree.
I'd barely passed my HSC.

Now I've completed THREE.

EVERYONE said I could never buy a house a single mum.
I bought THREE.

EVERYONE said I would never win in Court.
I kept going broke and stressed out.
And won.

There are so many more examples in my life...too unbelievable to share.

Why people would say "You CAN'T" when there's an opportunity to say "GO FOR IT!" I'll never know.

Small minded people who want to keep YOU small.

I know where the following quote comes from and love it but don't really admire the person lol...

"If you're going to bother thinking at all, you may as well THINK BIG".

This year will be a tough one for me with added challenges that've been coming for a while... all I've got to say is BRING IT ON. lol.

Onwards and UPwards peeps!

This isn’t so much a quote as it is a paraphrase, but this is supposed to be a “words to inspire” type discussion, and not everyone likes Pokémon, so...

“Good ideas. Bad ideas. That is only the foolish perception of the close-minded. Truly inspired visionaries should try to succeed in the things they enjoy most. I like your style. You understand what’s important. Go on: your dreams are waiting.”

"True belonging doesn't require you to change who you are, it requires you to BE who you are".
Brene Brown.

More from Brene Brown!

These are in "The Gifts of Imperfection" but found them in Daring Greatly.

Ten "guideposts" that the Wholehearted work to cultivate in their lives and what they work at to let go of:

1. Cultivating Authenticity: Letting go of what people think

2. Cultivating Self-Compassion: Letting go of perfectionism

3. Cultivating a Resilient Spirit: Letting go of numbing and powerlessness

4. Cultivating Gratitude and Joy: Letting go of scarcity and fear of the dark

5. Cultivating Intuition and Trusting Faith: Letting go of the need for certainty

6. Cultivating Creativity: Letting go of comparison

7. Cultivating Play and Rest: Letting go of exhaustion as a status symbol and productivity as self-worth

8. Cultivating Calm and Stillness: Letting go of anxiety as a lifestyle

9. Cultivating Meaningful Work: Letting go of self-doubt and "supposed to"

10. Cultivating Laughter, Song and Dance: Letting go of "being cool" and "always in control".
